And to keep the discussion going, my first full GCCX episode! Not necessarily the best example of what makes GCCX great, but it was certainly a fun episode.

I just watched it. Good job, man! T'was great!

DS you need to find a stateside publisher to work with you to get this series officially licensed and distributed here.  Judging by the nerdgasm reaction in this thread, I'd wager there's a (niche) market for this series in the USA.  It could be lucrative work if you handle the subtitling translation.  I know you don't hold the rights to the show, but you could put together a pitch (with you as the willing localizer) and shop the idea to relative publishers.  In turn an interested party could contact the relative publisher in Japan for a deal.  Anyway, I know I would do this, if I was as vested in GC-CX as you are.  Just a thought!

Actually, Game Center does have some official localizations. It's been called Retro Game Master for a while now. You can buy the DVD set for the English version on Amazon. It would be great if DS could end up getting contracted by these people for the next bunch of DVDs, though (if they are any more coming).

Okay did not know that!  Yeah DS should get hooked up with them if he can.

Is that the kotaku episodes? (they're the only people I've heard of who 100% legit subbed them)
I know kotaku said they were going to release a DVD, but I never saw them plug the actual release (and since they plug pretty much everything else...)
(the episodes I remember them releasing where Ninja Gaiden, Bonanza Bros., Clock Tower, the Genesis Fantasy Zone, Battle Golfer Yui, Wing of Madoola, Atlantis no Nazo, Mighty Bomb Jack, Solomon's Key)

Yeah, it's those episodes. Plus two more which I think were subbed exclusively for the DVD release (Shiren's Mystery Dungeon and Ninja Gaiden 2). Those two don't have English audio; everything else does. They also got new subs.

God, do I wish. Unfortunately, the chick who does the translations for the other group out there doing GCCX is the one who did the translations for the first set of DVDs. How'd she get that? Well, it just so happens that the guy from Discotek who was the head of the project frequented their project thread and asked her directly from there.

So I'm not sure I'll have any luck in that department.

One problem I'm betting I'm going to have in the near future, if I'm not having it already, is a bunch of people being super loyal to that group, and not being willing to accept alternatives (even if the other group isn't perfect, fansub fans sure do treat them like they are...).

For those interested, I've created a Tumblr for my GCCX releases:

http://lcgccx.tumblr.com

If anyone has any advice as to how I could publicize this any better, I'd take any suggestions. I've already got the five episodes I've done up on my YouTube account, they get posted on the Steam GCCX group regularly, and now the Tumblr. I don't have an account on Something Awful (which is where the other group resides), but a few of my translations have been brought up there as well.

Meh, it's not that similar. He plays modern games. No extra segments. And most of his shit is probably scripted.

You did? I didn't.

And I think you need to watch some more GCCX, sir. If you've only watched the stuff that I've linked to, you're missing out. Super Metroid, Fire Emblem, Excitebike, and Yoshi's Island, while fun to watch, aren't very funny except for a few scenes.

You want funny, go watch the GCCX in USA special, Street Fighter II, or one of the quiz games.

I thought when Conan played Resident Evil 6, it showed everything wrong with that game.

Garoth Moulinoski

Eh, I giggled a bit with this. But this was more of a comedy skit than a guy going through with a challenge. They're two different things. :S

I'm surprised the SAGCCX Team haven't Translated The Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time Episode yet, what gives? :o

DarknessSavior

Most people consider those two episodes to be quite boring. The ADs do a lot of work for him, and one of the only temples we actually get to see him go through is the Water Temple.

In other news, I've translated the second part of the Yoshi's Island episode:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTXFv1FrVXY

And now my group (yes, I said group. There's a second guy working with me to erase the text on most of the Japanese signs) has it's own blog: http://lcgccx.tumblr.com. We're called Last Continue GCCX.

so arino only stopped at the water temple? meaning like from point A (Part 1) to Point B 1/2? (Part 2) per say, but anyways besides theres other episodes that needs the translation like the Sega Mega CD Game he'd Challenged (forgot name of the game) but pretty much those were forgetting even if it is boring gotta support the fans somehow ya know just saying

I always loved seeing GCCX episodes whenever I'm in the mood. Though I really do think the numerous AD's should allow Arino to play the games once off-screen just so he can get the feeling of whatever he's playing before broadcasting live. The AD's also put some nasty restrictions on Arino with the concept of the time limits and if a game offers unlimited continues, the AD's will often force Arino not to continue more times if far enough in the video.

It's still pretty enjoyable, and it did get me into a couple new games.

DSwizzy145

Yeah i agree with you on that statement by a whole

There are plenty of times where he's gone to challenge a game and he's played it before. I think it works out to about an even split, really, of games he's played versus those he's never heard of.

And the restrictions aren't from the ADs, they're from the producer. I mean, this is a relatively low budget show. They can't just keep going forever on some of these. Some games are just so long that they require a second episode, but if they just let Arino play forever on some of those games, it would be really boring.
