What? No ActRaiser 2? No Dark Souls? Maybe he's close enough to the edge already.
I'm fairly certain AR2 isn't popular anywhere. You're the only one who loves that game.

And Dark Souls is far too new. The newest system I've seen him play games from is the PSX (though he occasionally plays the Wii for MM9 and Virtual Console titles).

That's good to know, but sales has nothing to do with why I brought it up. You mentioned there were some difficult games in the list. ActRaiser 2 is renowned for its absurd difficulty level, which would make for an interesting video playthrough... or at least an amusing ragequit. :P
I'm no longer active on RHDN, but I keep coming back to troll, whee!

I'd wonder if he'll do more jrpg games at some point in the show :) or more SFC, PSX & Mega Drive/Genesis titles soon? or hopefully another round or look at horror/Mystery Visual Novels too in case

Cryomancer

He's played more recent than the PSX, one of the earliest episodes involved playing Steel Battalion.

Excitebike 3D Classics. For 3DS. I was also going to say he played his game.

I didn't know he played Steel Battalion... O_o

Agreed.  I get my head handed to me in that game constantly.  It has the makings of what could be a fun game, it's just...  not.  Note to devs:  There's hard, and there's unfair.  Please know the difference!

I watched the first Super Metroid episode.  I'll say it's more entertaining than a standard "Let's Play" for sure, but it's not exactly riveting either.  I think Chief Arino purposefully hams it up with silly overreacting and he intentionally screws up for laughs.  I can understand how this could be amusing for some people.  If the show felt more genuine to me, then I might watch more episodes.  It's an interesting idea for a show though, and DS' translation seems good.

I know I've have moments where I knew what I was supposed to do, but for no reason I end up screwing up just because. Maybe it was because I was thinking something else ("I'm hungry, what can I eat?" "What will I do after this?") It happens. I don't think he fails on purpose.

...But yeah, he is a comedian after all. He'll end up cracking jokes along the way anyway.

I'd like to know what kind of monitor he's playing those games on.

That was more of a one off thing, really...

But yeah, I do wish he'd move onto more 16 and 32 bit stuff. I'd love to see him handle X4, 5, 6, Legends, Legends 2.

Oh and just to be a bastard, Beyond The Beyond. Not because it's a terrible game, but because the boredom would be crushing. >:)

Yeah, sorry. I forgot about the Steel Battalion episode. But that's the only one beyond PSX he's done IIRC.

In the latest stuff, he's using a 19 inch Sharp Aquos. But I'm not sure what the old white monitor is.

Personally, I'd like to see him do X1, but that's just because it's one of my personal favorite games ever. :D

16 seasons!? I thought that this show has only been on for a small number of years. Can you imagine having a job that involves spending 16 years playing through video games in front of a camera and entertaining people at the same time? I'm available if somebody wants to do an American version of Game Center CX.

Lariria

The series' concept of a season is different than the standard U.S. concept. They often run more than one season a year.

OK, I figured that there was a technicality that I overlooked.

Yeah. The way I heard it explained was that at first, the amount of episodes that got put into a "season" was determined by Arino's free time (he's on a ton of other shows all the time, since his main job was being a Japanese comedian). That's why the first few seasons were pretty short. Before the show took off, they would actually be worried about whether or not they'd be renewed, and there were multiple times where they were like "This is the LAST episode of Game Center CX" only to find out later that they got renewed for another season.

Now that the show is popular, a season typically lasts longer than a typical American season would. Last season (15) was 20 episodes, and this season is already at 15.

Well, a lot of American TV seasons last for 20 someodd episodes, just not for Cable network shows due to less viewers.

And to keep the discussion going, my first full GCCX episode! Not necessarily the best example of what makes GCCX great, but it was certainly a fun episode.

I personally thank you for sharing your translation efforts not just in translating games, but in translating this awesome TV show as well :) I love Arino, and I was super stoked to find out Kotaku aired a few for awhile. But between Kotaku and another big translation group, there's still MANY episodes that go by untranslated. Having one more to enjoy make my day a happier one :)

I'm glad to do it. I absolutely adore this show and I love bringing it to those who cannot understand moonrunes. :3
