After aplying the patch I end with an invalid ROM (no header).
If I add a header would this issue be fixed?

No Special Requirement in this improvement (Header/Non-Header is for the SNES).

Sooo... This is a SNES patch??
In this case, I feel utterly dumb!!  :banghead:
I was trying to apply the patch on the NES version of Castlevania II!! :-[
I really would like to mod my old cartridge, but I only got a 2mb flash ROM and a couple of SRAMs... :'(

No. This is not designed for SNES. This is Castlevania II Multilingual Enhancement is for NES.

Decerebrado

So, I'm not soo dumb :D
That's my problem, when I apply the patch the ROM becomes unusable, it won't run on the emulator (GFCEU) it just quits.
Looks like I should try in other emulator. I just want to be sure the game has all I want before trying to put it on a cartridge.

Headerless ROMs do not exist on NES, most emus assume iNES header, although other formats also exists.

You should pick the right options in the vending machine. I think the recommendation is to keep MMC1+CHR-ROM so it remains like the original game - although perhaps Bisqwit has another recommendation.

Decerebrado

I really would like to use both ROMs.
But I have only one ROM and some SRAMs.
Could be possible to use this setup?

I did receive the message you sent today, but once again, it is a copy of the same message that I already replied to on March 2. And I re-sent my reply on May 30. Neither of which you have confirmed. I sent my messages to the j.pedroza1489@hotmail.com address, that we successfully roundtrip first on Sep 14, starting with your message titled "New email and questions", and from which I last heard of you on March 5. I see you have now reverted to the old address shadow_one666@hotmail.com. Maybe you better check the address you told me to use?
That's weird, I already checked both addresses and neither of them have the email, I also checked Spam/Junk folders and nothing.
Could you resend the mail to -snipped- please?
If the problem persist I'll contact you throgh PM.

Sooo... let me reformulate my question: ;)
I have a SNROM board. It supposelly had Castlevania 2 on it, but it's not working.
The game's case don't help much to identify it. :-\
I would like to use this board to build a Castlevania 2 with this translation.

I've got to the vending machine, select "No CHR-ROM (assumes CHR-RAM)" and set "New cinematic prologue" to No. I have not touched the other options.
I got the patch fine, but when applied no emulator I've tried can run it.
I opened the resulting ROM in a hex editor, and the first 3 bytes are not "NES". I think it means that it has no header.
I tried to add a header to it, but all I get is a black screen when testing.
I'm using Lunar IPS to apply the patch. I have already tried with all the default options (eg.: have not changed anything on the vending machine, except the current language to english) and the patched file worked.
Can you please help me to get a valid ROM after aplying the desired patch?
Thanks in advance.

For ROM, just search it on Google they're bunch of them. Also don't bring the ROM in forum.

Hmmm... I'll try to be more concise...  :)

What I have:
The SNROM board;
An AT49F002-12JC;
A homemade chip writer;
Castlevania II - Simon's Quest (U) [!].nes crc32:a9c2c503;
cv2eng-2_9_8_19-ntsc-stm1mwfmFuVp4.ips;
Lunar IPS.exe (Version 1.01, Apr 19 2007);

First ROM bytes (in hex):
Before patching: 4E 45 53 1A 08 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
After patching: 13 00 00 AD 10 00 D0 03 4C 07 C2 A9 55 20 18 C1

After patching the ROM didn't work on any emulator.
Can someone help me fix this?
Thanks in advance. ;)

Bregalad

You patched it all wrong. ALL NES ROMs are headered, and should start with "4E 45 53 1A".

Decerebrado

Could you please point me what I've done wrong?
All seemed very simple: I opened the Lunar IPS, pointed the patch and then the .nes file.
What could be wrong in this process?

Just to be sure I patched with a different patch from the vending machine, with all options default.
It ran fine on the emulator.

I've read a post of a guy having trouble generating a mapper 2 patch, wich uses CHR RAM too...
Could this be some bug with the CHR RAM part of the vending machine?

Bisqwit

The patch generator may be broken again. For what reason I don't know. Stand by while I'll investigate it.

talbin

Just wanted to share my appreciation for this patch.  This game really frustrated me, like most people, because of the horrible translation.  This is the first time I've ever gone through the game without any issues.

Someone is making a fangame with enhanced graphics and music.

You wouldn't have the script somewhere would you? Just in case they would wanna go with a more accurate translation.

I clearly remember playing a Simons Quest remake on my PC, and it was not this one. It was great, and harder than the NES version.

MathUser2929

I think there was a remake called draculas shadow or something like that. It took alot of liberties. This remake is keeping the basic level structure, which I like. I think it's the same but enhanced.

Comment removed because reasons...

Yeah, and Castlevania 3 didn't have problems with too much color either.
