Ive recently started trying to hack and edit roms, with the help of hex editor tutorials and graphic editors for games, but I seem to be stuck and do not know how to change the simple main menu of 1942 to show or say something else. If anyone could help me, i would really appreciate it.

The game's title screen tilemapping appears to be located at $[3BC1-3C95] in the headered ROM. It utilizes a strange format I've never seen before; PPU target addresses don't seem to be located in this data set.   

Do you know what you want as a replacement?

I was hoping to simply change the "1942" to a different number, either by using a font or redrawing it.

Most excellent! Since you're pretty much staying in the confines of the original tilemapping, this shouldn't be very difficult at all.

What year were you looking to replace it with?
