This might sound crazy but I've been dying to play 'Itadaki Street 2 - Neon Sign wa Bara Iro ni' for the SNES ever since I discovered 'Fortune Street' for the Wii. The only problem is, it's in Japanese and there are no english translations of it as far as I know.

I'm willing to pay US $100 to anyone who can translate the game for me.

$100? That's an hour's work. If that. Certainly if I were going to do this and I had the skills, I would want at least $50/hour, and that's cheap for consultants' rates.

Nah, he only wants the translation. Not a fully working English version of the game. No hacking required!

Anyway... You can probably spend a few hours yourself and learn some basic hacking and see if you can at least get a script for people.

Ryusui: I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone and I really had no idea it'd be a big project.  I figured it was just a matter of figuring out the translation to a few words and replacing them in the game.  There's not a lot of words that need to be translated in the game, would only need the important stuff translated so a person could find their way around the game.

Depending on how desperate you are, the real cheap way of playing this game in English would be to set up something that takes screen captures, runs OCR on them (one way or another), feeds the result into a translator, and spits the English translation out in another window.  I think there was an early doodad written for Mother 3 that did something similar.

By the way, you're aware there are a whole bunch of other versions of Itadaki Street aside from the SNES one, right?

If you just want a translated script dump, I can do that for you. But you get the same rates as everyone else I work for as a freelance translator.

As long as it's text only, I charge $.08 (eight cents) per Japanese character. If the text is ginormous, I might discount it to $.06 per character.
