You are in a bit of luck, DS games have a built in file system, meaning that you wont have to look at a big unsorted pile of everything. Instead you most often get a decently sorted pile of most stuff and a small pile of unsorted stuff. Nintendo made games are even more lucky, they use a lot of known file formats. Find the details about this by doing further research.
