Alright, allow me to introduce everyone to a project that I've been kicking around for over two years now. The Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys English dub project on the TurboGrafx-CD!

As most of you already know NightWolve in 2004 released an English patch for all the in-game text for YsIV. However all of the game's cut scenes remained voiced in Japanese. There have been several attempts to create a fan-dub for Ys IV's cut scenes but none of them were ever finished. Ys IV has been waiting 8 years for a proper dub and I know I have the skills and determination to finally give it one. NightWolve is also supporting this project and plans on integrating the dub into a new release of the English patch when the project is completed.

For more information on the Ys IV Dub Project please check out the audition page on Voice Acting Alliance here...

If you think this audition sounds interesting then please help me spread the word. Inform any actors you know about the audition, post about it online, or even audition yourself!  I would greatly appreciate it.

Maybe pop this onto youtube or something or spread it around in a well known VA community.  There's MANY people that'd be willing to do something like this.
'We have to find some way to incorporate the general civilians in the plot.'

'We'll kill off children in the Juuban district with an infection where they cough up blood and are found hanging themselves from cherry blossom trees.'

ArugulaZ

Hell, I'd like to do it now!  I've got a pretty good voice for General Leo, although I'll need to re-record it to get rid of the background buzz.

That's what I'm trying to do. Though I do have everything set up on Voice Acting Alliance which is the biggest VA community that I can think of.

Yes, please do! I'm always looking for new auditions and if your mic's of good quality then your more then qualified ;)

Hmmmm, need to find my mic.  Haven't done a voice project in a while, but, this sounds like fun!

I think the hardest thing to find will be female voice actresses

That almost goes with out saying :P
I know this is probably not the most exemplary place to advertise but I'm in need of female auditions!
At the moment there's zero competition for anyone of the female roles.

Validus

too bad I no loge have rec0rding equipment or a nerdy esque fluent at english gf

danke

Having been an active member at the VAA for years, I can say without a doubt that you will not have any trouble finding females. In fact, you will have a harder time finding interested men. It's just the way the website works.

To get more auditions, I'd leave out the mention of the timing requirements, as it will turn people away. This is an audition, so you just want to hear their voice and their ability (and mic quality). Don't burden them yet with ADR stuff. That's for after auditions.

That's been something I've been considering; you mentioning it has convinced me that it needs to be taken down until the final actors are selected.
Thanks for the advice.

I would definitely be interested in this. Way back when I actually got involved in some fan-work voice acting projects (things that never got off the ground, and both DBZ related -- a fan fighting game called "Dragon Ball Remix" and a fandub of DBGT). I've always wanted to do voice-overs, and I'm a BIG Ys fan.

Gotta dig out my recording mic.

*Update*
The first draft of the dub is now completed and inserted into the game! Now I need to play through it and fix anything that needs fixing before its release.

I'll be using a hacked save file that I made using NightWolve's Ys IV YAME perl script, hosted on his site (ysutopia.net). Let's me start the game off with everything maxed out and all the armor/items unlocked.

As a side note I'll be using Wii-Mednafen for the test play through. My PCE-CD emulator of choice (used it for Rondo's audio testing).

I'm also very happy with the quality of the dub! It definitely feels like a good 90's dub.

DarknessSavior

Awesome. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
