That is amazing, Mega Man 2 is by far the greatest entry in the series, can't wait to eventually play it on my Duo. Wily Wars was so shit with that delay between control input and action. Also excited about the PCE version of the soundtrack, I love the PCE's sound chip and can't wait to hear Wily's Theme pumped out through it!

You mean remade PCMPSG tracks using the PCE upgrades? I'd have to find someone willing (and capable) of remaking the tracks for PCE's PCMPSG, but CDDA/redbook hack would be cake to do. Otherwise, it sounds the same (for the most part; I still need to complete the audio emulation): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljtxuk9KDCg

Wow this is so amazing you could do this. It would be really awesome next if you could figure out how to add port  Sega Genesis games to Sega CD and give those games audio functionality. Megaman: The Wily Wars with CD Audio would be nice.

If anyone is interested, I made PC Engine CD covers for Mega Man 1 & 2:

I'll ask my brother to make some tracks for you he's a music producer/sound engineer he's been having some musicians  block lately so ill see if he's willing to cook something up for you to give him something to do. what kind of sound are you looking for? like a high quality cd sound. or a more EDM (electronic dance music) type sound which is highly popular these days he can do pretty much any sound.

Those are very clean and official looking.

These look really good dude, cant wait to try it out if youre gonna release them here. Just curious since the TG16 is a 16bit console were you thinking of redrawing the sprites into a more 16 bit form or leave it the way it is.

I've been waiting a LOOOONG time for Megaman 2 with the ability to switch the tracks to anything using CDDA. Looks like it's coming soon  :woot!:

Tomaitheous was nice enough to send me a cda version of mm1 for the pc engine a while back, I changed a few of the audio tracks.  Here's a playthrough of it running on my s-video modified pc engine cd unit from start to finish that I uploaded in...2012:

I actually never bothered clearing mm1 on the nes, having the cda was the final push for me to bother clearing the game.  Improvement hacks such as this tend to motivate me to finally clear games I never cleared as a kid.  I never cleared the original metroid until the metroid with saving and a map patch was released.

So from what I've heard, the level select screen was sampled from Bon Jovi's Runaway, the boss screen is Hotel California by the Eagles, and perhaps most well known is that Elec Man's theme is Faithfully by Journey. I made a joke video where I played Elec Man's stage, but I didn't upload it (I'm less likely to test youtube's copyright-bot).

I'd guess one could eventually make a custom version of that? :D

New CD build of MM1 out. Has an options screen and a few new tricks. You can download it at my blog. It's cue/iso/wave format, so replace the wave tracker with whatever you want.

My GOD THIS IS AMAZING BEST ROMHACK EVER

EDIT : I don't know if you fixed the music in Wily's stage since the Youtube video posted by Drakon. If you did ignore this remark, but if you didn't, Teck from vgmusic.com made two amazing arrangements of Wily stage 1 and 2 that would perfectly suit. (he actually did wonderful arrangement of most songs of the entiere Mega Man franchise, but only did the two Wily stages from MM1, which just happens to be what is missing in the hack).

Drakon

You can burn whatever audio tracks you want.  I changed a few tracks to ones I prefer it's just a wav file.

Yeah the problem is : I don't have any PCE, so all I can do is watch the video and say this is an amazing hack ^^

There's PCE emulators on the pc that will play a game off of a burned cd or even better a virtual cd from a harddrive image like an iso.

Mednafen should run it fine (I used it to debug and do all my coding with). Bizhawk is a fork of medanfen, with a gui for windows. It should run in that, though I haven't tested it.

I have a few other stuff that I'm going to add to the game. 6 button support for quick weapon changing without having to pause the game. Slide move from the later MM games. And charge shot (not sure how many charge 'stages' to make).

I'm also looking for a chiptune artist to redo the MM1 PSG sound track in PCE format. Not just copy it, but remix/upgrade it/etc. I'll provide the sound engine and format, just need the musician.

Got a link? I couldn't find those two on vgmusic.com, from him.

Bregalad

Last time I tried Medfaden it wouldn't run at all but that was on my previous PC, I should try again.

As for the link, go here, and search "Mega Man" and then "teck". All his MIDIs are awesome when played on a Yamaha XG device, pure sexy remixes.

So I was able to simulate the hack with mednafen and medgui. Some comments so far :
1) The music doesn't stop when it's supposed to when you die
2) Similarly, the music doesn't stop when it's supposed to when a boss dies
3) This is purely a matter of opinion, but I think it'd be nice if some of the short songs, such as "boss selected", "game over" and "victory" were still chiptune.
4) Is this based on the PAL version ? There is a low pitched noise after the shooting sound effect.
5) The "stage select" music was SOOOO much better in the old version. Why change it ? This one is VERY lame, and is wrong
6) Even though the Wily stage music got replaced, Wily stage 2 music is wrong (it's from Mega Man 3), and anyways both sounds way too much heavy metal to me. So my comments about Teck's versions still apply.
7) Is there a way to make the music loop more elegantly than fading out, stop, and fade in again ?
8 ) I really hate hate Ice man's stage. Oops this is not related to this hack, sorry ^^ This'd be the easiest game of the series if this weren't for Ice Man's stage.
