Nice screenshot @Gideon. Looks 16-bit also.

Sweet, satisfying progress

That's the Genesis version of PC, isn't it? I recall it uses mostly sprites for the text. Great job, it's looking real nice, good luck with the project! :)

Hey that's awesome, loved PC.

Let's just say the original code was utter terrible. Basically written the code from scratch.

Oh nice, RadioShadow.

I still get asked questions about your previous version of the app every now and again, so it's good to see some QOL improvement. :D

That was one of the first tools I coded in Visual Basic 6, and it shows. It was such a mess!

Did I even post the tool at www.warsworldnews.com? I can't remember.

But yeah, tool is working nicely. You can change the US & UK language at any time (basically has different names for COs and units), along with which region you are modifying (this must be selected before you load the arm9.bin).

@Justin3009: what project is that?

KingMike

Making Rambard a playable character in ToP.

Tales of Phantasia. I've worked on it before but always stopped, so I decided this time to hop right into the meat that I wanted to do.

Rambard/Brambard/Brambald/Brambert (Whatever you want to call him) is going to be a playable character, like he was originally before getting scrapped.

Great to see that you're dedicated on your editor. AW:DOR international translation was such a mess and I still dont know why it happened in the first place. Got two copies of the game (US and Europe) just to see how much different the english script was between regions.

Edit: Your french looks good but I would change 'capturer' to 'capture' just to match with other terms like 'attaque'.

Just playing at fixing DKC Advance.
I'd like to turn it into a real project, but can't promise. Palettes are completely messed and shuffled, it's not easy to get a decent result.

Granville

It's an interesting attempt, i've wondered what DKC GBA would look like if someone tried correcting the palette somewhat. But unlike most other ports on the GBA, there are tons other problems that I feel makes the effort not quite worthwhile. Backgrounds are missing details, layers or effects. Day to night transitions don't exist anymore. And most of the graphical assets were resized to be 25% smaller than their original form. A number of the sprites are also missing animation frames as well.

I don't know how complete that shot is, but it also seems like the tilesets have fewer colors than the originals as well. Either that or there's something else wrong with the shading and overall detail. Compared with SNES-

Interesting regardless, and an obvious improvement over the stock GBA version. Though the sky is a bit odd (that one might be hard to fix as it seems to have a different gradient effect on SNES).

Midna

I'd like to propose a sound restoration project as well, but the GBA Donkey Kong Country games use a proprietary Rareware sound engine and not the more common Sappy, so that's probably not viable.

Progress:

Despite having less colors and crippled graphics, results are impressive, must look very good on a GB Micro.
But I don't think it's worth the time. I spent some hours for just three levels.

JP32

Bit of an proof-of-concept but I've managed to hack Solstice, as-in I figured out the level data and such. This originally was the very first room. :)

Also have this optical illusion I accidentally made. (no, you cant enter the door even with cheating)

Finally got those negative values to work for those who want to give negative results in a CO Zone.  :P
