Hi Guys!

At this point, I feel the War Room Hack II is complete enough to test for bugs and weird issues so it can be a fully awesomeised hack.

Known Bugs:
Kindle and Von Bolt's music have the occasional loud squeak. (Low priority)
When music is off, the map's intro music will continue playing instead. (Low priority)
Kindle and Von Bolt's names will clip on the CO Dossier (Low priority)

What To Report:
Mechanical Bugs (Weird damage amounts, units stopping when not supposed to, etc.)
Tiling Errors (Wrong tile on maps, map edges, missing shadows, property changes background when capped, etc.)
Times! (I need to know if I've set times too low/high)
Units with bad stats (Unusual ammo/fuel amounts)
AI Doing absurd things (Not building air units on an air map, etc.)
Comments on other things! :D

•AI on Riverside changed to a mode that should hopefully break pipe seams

I'd also like to note that I'd like people to play through the following maps if possible! I've received little feedback on them:

Deterministic Weather
Unlock Sturm, Von Bolt and Caulder

What's Deterministic Weather?
When COs who cause random weather changes are in play (Olaf, Drake), these changes will occur on set days rather than via RNG. For example, a single Olaf causes +10% chance of snow. Previously, this would randomly occur with the RNG. Now it will occur every (100/X) days, where X is the percentage chance of weather change.

A single Olaf in play will cause Snow to fall at the end of Day 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc.

How Do I Unlock Sturm, Caulder or Von Bolt?
If you S-Rank a map, you can use them on that map. Go!

Definitely! Please have a play. The maps range from easy to frighteningly hard to S-Rank ;)

Okay, time to get this thing finished before 2011 is. :P

This refers to only the current revision of the map and it is all that I know about personally. If you guys have already done some of these and can fill in the blanks, please tell me! Some of the maps may have their time limit altered in a more lenient fashion, regardless.

Tutorial - Basic rundown on scoring rules, changed features and unlocking stuff.
S-Rank recording - The game now records which COs you've S-Ranked a map with. Not retrospective, sorry. But if you upgrade now all future wins will be recorded. It's currently not displayed...that's to be done in future. :P

Notes: I've written new code that governs how the AI decides to actually activate its CO Powers. I'll get around to most of the COs. Essentially you shouldn't notice a huge difference, but it will hopefully cut down on the turns where the AI will blatantly waste a CO Power (Grit using Snipe Attack with no Artillery for example!). Caulder will now also only use his power if he doesn't have a CO Unit and actually wants to deploy it.

Should make playing Vs a Caulder AI much more fun :P

-Fixed Bug (Von Bolt's Sadface Portrait)
-Updated Von Bolt's SCOP to use new graphic (Thanks to x0_000)
-Fixed a text-wrapping error on one of Von Bolt's SCOP Quotes
-Fixed a situation in the tutorial where you could end it prematurely by capturing.

Guess what? It's patch update time! Now with a double-whammy of bugfix! Get it from the initial link!

Patch Update - Bugfixes:
•Kindle's units will now properly receive her terrain boost when attacking pipe seams - the game now uses the tile the unit is currently on, rather than the one it started on.
•Caulder's units will now properly receive his CO Zone boost when attacking pipe seams - As the Kindle fix.
•Caulder's units will now properly receive his CO Zone boost when attacking enemy units.

The first is a bug I introduced in the last update. I highly recommend you update it ASAP...if you want to play as Caulder.

Bugfix:
•Caulder's CO Unit no longer may de-CO when attacking as a human player.
•Von Bolt hitting himself with his SCOP will result in paralysis that appears to be an allied unit to the current player.

Tweak:
•Von Bolt now uses a Black Hole HQ and Black Hole style units.

Were you going to add new music? I just heard this tune and realized how it really fit the quick, yet peppy style of music Fire  Emblem and Advance Wars uses for their player themes and stuff :)

Glad for the words of support, guys :)

Celice: I was going to include one or two surprise tunes if I get inspired. That one is one of my favourites though. ^_^

Anyhow, now back into the swing of things. This is the final included feature, and is WIP:

WIP for the final feature required for the project! :D
No Bars or +/- or On/Off yet, just getting this far is awesome. But this adds a Page 5 to the CO Dossier ;)

Anyhow, patch update. The list of things to finish is getting ever smaller.

New Feature - Extended CO Intel in CO Dossier.
New Feature - S-Rank completion display (A map with S-Ranks recorded for every CO will appear blue)
Bugfix - Spann Island's time limit editing in code to 10 days to match the text like it is supposed to.

I'm sure some of you have been following the thread, but time to announce the  1.0 release. There's a RHDN submission in waiting too. :)




This was a wildly out of control result of what was supposed to be a one-month hack to develop a new War Room challenge for Advance Wars 2. Instead, it has turned into something that’s taken over a year to put together, complete with a large amount of refinements and gameplay additions. Complete with new COs from the AW series, plenty of challenging maps and a bundle of hand-coded new features, this is a definitive hack to play for Advance Wars fans (or people who like TBS games!).

Game Features:

    30 New War Room Maps to play on - Some remixes of existing maps, most brand new from the AW Community.
    Tutorial map with summary of game rules, scoring and new hack features.
    Each map has an info dossier with the par time and author of the map.
    Each CO has unique combat abilities in the War Room setting. Some COs from Advance Wars Dual Strike and Days of Ruin make an appearance as well!
    Improved high score support - The game records S-ranks achieved on each map with each CO.
    Improved status screens - The unit status screen now shows CO abilities more accurately and with more stats.
    Pre-deployed maps provide unique army compositions depending on your CO selection - a feature returning from Advance Wars 1!
    New deterministic weather rules for fairer scoring!
    Extended Status Screen - Shows your rank in progress and whether you have S-Ranked this map with the current CO.
    Improved Enemy AI - Enemy COs no longer use CO powers when they’d have no reason to use them and use them more intelligently!
    Unlockables - Earn more COs by scoring S Ranks on maps!
    Play against or as the series’ evil villains - Caulder, Sturm and Von Bolt
