I have a img file of game shin megami tensei PSX and I wanna try to translate it into english.
Then what I have to do first? where to locate the text in img file? Do I have to use any tools to do the translation?

You do know the (arguably superior) SNES version is already fully playable in English, right? I don't think the marginal graphic updates to the PSX version make a new hack worthwhile.

Yeah, but I still want it in a better version. How about the gba version? will it be easier to move the translation to the gba version?

I'd say so, since it uses a cartridge format instead of a disc, and it's basically the same version, if not better.

Personal preference are the SNES graphics. I think the PSX/GBA version looks lazy; it's SNES sprites over more detalied backgrounds.

At a second glance, it doesn't seem all that different. Sharper backgrounds, but they run choppy. Same sprites, occasional close-ups.

Still, I wouldn't mind playing it through. Some of the remixed music sounds neat.

Anyway, I think I'll just give it a try to move the translation to the gba version, maybe it have less differences right with the snes version compared to the PSX one?

The fluid movement through the corridors is really easy on the eyes though. I much prefered SMT PSX to Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei in that regard. And apparently the PSX version is much easier and accessible.

If you play it in Japanese, having kanji is nice. Makes it easier/quicker to read.

I played a bit of If on PSX. Could see myself going back to playing it. And I still need to beat II. Maybe I'll get the PSX version for Vita one day.

Man it'd be a dream playing the entire SNES trilogy on the PSX
