I've tried it on three different emulators, but it's still not working. I used the untouched ROM like you mentioned too. Someone said 2.2.0 of FCEUX is supposed to work for it, but I'm not getting any sound, which I need. Am I supposed to use the two patches in a particular order, like Translation then the hack, or vice versa?

It wasn't working for me before and now is, but I'm using NestopiaX on Xbox. You don't have patch the rom in a particular order though, just pick a patch that you want to use. If I understand correctly, the english patch is by Lindblum and is an english patch for the originally created FF7 nes game, and the other one is by Lugia2009 which is the new and improved one. If it still is not working for you, I would either try a different emulator, try a different original rom, or try reinstalling the emulator you are using if possible.

Yeah, one patch in the archive is for Linblumb's English translation, and the other one is for Lugia's mod.

Before he fixed the patches/archive there were 3 patches.

Lugia's patch is already English translated.

After jumping off the train, I walked down about 10 screens or so before trying up

i did the same thing. it made sense to head down, i ended up wasting all my potions before i tried up. this is a good spot to level up if you can afford to bring a bunch of potions.

I have some errors to point out and an improvement suggestion.

1. In Aerith's flower garden, one of the chests you find says it's a "MdPotion"; this has been changed to Hi-Potion in the item screens.
2. The chest to the far west of Sector 5 says you find a HiPotion, but it's actually a Low-Mega.
3. Aerith says "Well, the worst is over.... Maybe not...." after they land when Don Corneo drops them in the sewers. She originally says "Well, the worst is over..." in regards to them being out of the Don's mansion. Then she turns and hears Aps shriek and says "Maybe not..." Since the boss Aps was removed from FFVII NES, I think the "Maybe not..." should be removed too.

Alright, so I know I'm a bit late to the party, since this is completed and all (it rocks guys!) but I was wondering how feasible it is to insert more music into the game? I don't know a thing about coding for the NES, but I decided to start making NSFs to insert into the rom. Here's one I did for the Bombing Mission. It's quite long for an NSF, but the source material is pretty repetitive and could be trimmed to fit.

I just uh, don't know how to put them in.

I think there maybe space limitations. Cause I know that I know Lugia2009 and others may have more songs but they did not put them in because of space limitations. I could be wrong so don't quote me on that.

This game is fully compatible with the original hardware, you just need a custom board, or to find the right donor cart. Though, making a custom board, or finding someone to make it will probably be an easier way to go.

Even if you find an original Shenzhen Nanjing cartridge, there's no guarantee it can be used.
I managed to find 3, and I can only use 1 since it looks like the other ones have epoxy globs over the flash chip.

Here is a tutorial on removing that epoxy stuff on an Xbox 360 DVD drive. Should be similiar on the ROMS also.

Minor glitch to report, nothing gamebreaking.

Spoiler:

After defeating Reno on the pillar, and the team splits up from Cloud... if you walk past the staircase to the bottom of the screen, then walk back up, Tifa pops out in front of you and says something as you pass the staircase again. You have to stay close to the wall to get around. I think this also made the player's sprite change to Cloud even though he's not in your party. If not, then it happened when I walked back out onto the roof.

This hack is freakin' amazing!

I've tried using both versions of the patched rom on VirtuaNES, but I haven't had any luck getting it working. Has anyone found any workarounds or fixes, or will I just have to use another emulator?

VirtuaNES doesn't support Mapper 163 at this time and there's no workarounds that I know of. Best to try another emulator.

Some typos:

-When walking in/out of rooms in Costa De Sol it reads "Costa De So"
-Same in Corel Prison, it reads "Corel Priso"
