Yes, probably white would work better if it must be a single color and you can't have flashing.

Or maybe a gradient using white and a very light shade of another color (maybe blue or green).

I'm close to being done, I just finished the events for the Planet's Core map.  After that, I'm going to make a final ending cut-scene that will have pictures of some of the final scenes from the original game along with dialogue explaining the ending.

Once that's finished, I just need to add credits.

Then I need to play through the game once more to adjust any other events that need to be fixed and look for any bugs in the game.  Vincent7 is helping me with this.

I also need to adjust the enemy parties, weaknesses, stats, and their colors.  And I'm going to change the game's difficulty and the character, weapon, and materia growth curves.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer, I'm hoping to have it all done by September.

QuoteSo what are you going to do after this project is done anyways? Got anything in particular planned for after completion of this?

Here's my next project: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,15461.0.html
It's on hold right now until this project is finished.

QuoteBelow is my modification of the rocks I made. Feel free to use it.

Thanks for the graphics Chpexo , the map looks much better now.

I finished part 1 of the ending for this game:

How does it look?

After this is going to be some ending images with dialogue explaining what's happening.
These are the images I'm going to use for the ending.

You're very welcome.

For a complete submitted project on this site you need a readme. Look at this one: Click me!. It would be cool to have some comments from you and major contributors on the hack in the readme and possibly discuss Vanya's abandoned project. It's a big project and there would be an interesting story to tell in the readme.

Definitely should include the box art Vanya designed in the zip also with the patch. Can't wait to see the finished product

What box art are you referring to?

Chpexo

I found a glitch. When you are fleeing the Shinra Inc to leave Midgar, your party stands wait for you right? You can move around them without triggering the event that is supposed to happen.

Dr. Mario

Man, I am so happy that the sprites I made you for the Sephiroth battles turned out looking alright. I'm really looking forward to what you end up doing with the ending. It sounds ambitious, but you can definitely pull it off.
What is a man? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more.

Chpexo

I would advise you to keep the coverage about the ending low. This way people who are following the project will be forced to download the final patch to see it. However, if you feel the need of a quality check or programming help then by all means show your work.

Here's some theme music for those who want to review the thread.

A celebration of this momentous undertaking.

You ought to make a documentary.

Looks amazing. But why is it just white the whole time in the background before the halfnaked sephiroth fight?  :(
I guess it will get someting going on at a later release  :)

And whoever made that sprite wow. That Sephiroth sprite is amazing.

Question:
How hard is it to change the battlesprites?
e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmBPzlJUymc  (just find a battle)
This 8Bit Sprites (Cloud, Barret) just look so much better than the ones in use currently =)

That's nitpicking, but would make the hack even more amazing.
September? =( well ok i'm waiting :D

@lifestream part is it normal that there is NO music in the beginning?

mrrichard999

Easy

This game can be play on everdrive/powerpak or hack mapper to normal mapper?

Hey, Lugia2009, I had a question concerning the new battle sprites. Cloud's damaged sprite appears to be based off of the Warrior's from FFIII NES, and that's perfectly okay; however, I noticed his hair hadn't been altered to match his new sprite, and I was wondering if this has since been changed?

Thank you and everyone involved in this project for your continued hard work. :)
Check out and discuss my projects

Lugia, about ending images. Maybe you grab some from advent children? With meteor and Red XIII

Thanks again for making them. They turned out perfect.

Thanks :).  The screens were a bit tricky to make.  I have 165 graphic tiles and 3 screens to make.  Each screen can only use about 55 tiles each.  But they're done.

I can fix it, but right now, the sprites aren't inserted in the game yet.

Unfortunately, no.  If I remember correctly the powerpak can only handle games that are up to half a megabyte in size.   And due to the large size of the game, I'm not sure if it's even possible to hack the game to another mapper.

QuoteLooks amazing. But why is it just white the whole time in the background before the halfnaked sephiroth fight?  :(

I tried it with a black background, but it looks better with a white background.

I do like those sprites too, but I prefer the ones currently used.  But if you'd like to change them, it's really not hard, you just need to use a tile editor.

I finished the screens for the game, and I made dialogue to go with each one.  The ending is all put together and finished.  Currently the game is finished from beginning to ending.  I still just need to fix the problems that were found, and I still need to play through the game to see what I can fix to really complete it.

I wanted to know if anyone would like to take a look at the ending dialogue to see if it sounds alright, or if anything should be added to it.

Da_GPer

Yay! 100% completion! Take your time bug testing it. We want all those nasty, squishy, gross bugs killed before we can see the awesome work you done.

Thanks to keithisgood, the ending text for the game is complete.  This game is now complete from beginning to end.

I began fixing some events for the game, there's still a bit to do, but the end is in sight.
