How's this for bone village?

I used the cliffs Chpexo provided.
For the ground color, which one looks better?

The armor shop in Icicle Inn is finished:

Nerd42

I think the lighter one looks better than the orange one. But better just means more aesthetically pleasing, not more like the PS1 game because I don't remember what the PS1 game looked like at this part

Lugia2009

That's the one I'm leaning towards too.

Right, the second one is better. Good job Lugia2009 and Chpexo!

Nerd42

the lighter one looks like sand

the orange one looks like some kind of orange flavored ice cream

Pikachumanson

I think the second one is best cuz a white floor doesn't go so well with the bone buildings

Lugia2009

Yeah, I like the second one too, that's the one I'm going to use.

The Magic Shop is finished:

RE: Bone Village, I'm willing to give some color leeway given that we're talking NES here and games often used wacky palettes. The cliff tile, though is quite the upgrade. Looking spiffy!

I had an idea for Icicle Inn. I decided to add the tapes of Professor Gast and Ifalna into the game.  Originally the map and snowboard would be retrieved in separate houses.  Now both can be found in the same house, and I'm going to use the extra house to create the house where Gast and Ifalna stayed.

Here's the new dialogue:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cloud: Hmm? A VCR and a set of video tapes. Let's see what's on them.

Tape 1: The original crisis

Gast: Camera's ready!, Then,Ifalna, please tell us about the Cetra.

Ifalna: 2000 years ago, our ancestors, the Cetra, heard the cries of the Planet. The first ones to discover the Planet's wound were the Cetra at the Knowlespole.

Gast: Tell us Ifalna....where is Knowlespole?

Ifalna: Knowlespole refers to this area. The Cetra then began a planet-reading.

Gast: Ifalna, what exactly does Planet-reading entail?

Ifalna: ....I can't explain it very well, but it's like having a conversation with the Planet....It said something fell from the sky making a large wound. Thousands of Cetra pulled together, trying to heal the Planet....But, due to the severity of the wound, it was only able to heal itself, over many years.

Gast: Do the Ancients, rather, the Cetra, have special powers to heal the Planet?

Ifalna: No,it's not that kind of power. The life force of all living things on this Planet becomes the energy. The Cetra tried desperately to cultivate the land so as not to diminish the needed energy....

Gast: Hmm, even here so close to the North Cave, the snow never melts. Is that because the planet's energy is gathered here to heal its injury?

Ifalna: Yes, the energy that was needed to heal the Planet withered away the land....then the Planet....The Planet tried to persuade the Cetra to leave the Knowlespole, but....When the Cetra....were preparing to part with the land they loved....That's when it appeared! It looked like....our....our dead mothers....and our dead brothers. Showing us spectres of their past.

Gast: Who is the person that appeared at the North Cave?

Ifalna: I haven't any idea. That's when the one who injured the Planet....or the "Crisis from the sky" as we call him, came. He first approached as a friend, deceived them, and finally....gave them the virus. The Cetra were attacked by the virus and went mad....transforming into monsters. Then, just as he had at the Knowlespole. He approached other Cetra clans....infecting them with....the virus....

Gast: You don't look well....Let's call it a day.

Tape 2: What is Weapon?

Gast: Ifalna, can you comment on the thing called Weapon?

Ifalna: Yes, Professor. The one the Professor mistook for a Cetra....was named Jenova. That is the "Crisis from the Sky". The Planet knew it had to destroy the "Crisis from the sky" You see, as long as Jenova exists, the Planet will never be able to fully heal itself.

Gast: Back then, Weapon was a weapon the Planet produced of its own will?

Ifalna: Yes, but....There is no record of Weapon ever being used. A small number of the surviving Cetra defeated Jenova and confined it. The Planet produced Weapon....But it was no longer necessary to use it. To this day Weapon remains asleep somewhere on the Planet. Even though Jenova is confined, it could come back to life at some time....The Planet has not fully healed itself yet. It is still watching Jenova.

Gast: Where is Weapon?

Ifalna: I don't know....I can't hear the voice of the Planet well....Times....have changed. The Planet....is probably watching this situation cloesly.

Gast: ..Thank you, Ifalna, that will be all for today.

Tape 3: Daughter's Record: 10th Day after birth

Ifalna: What are you doing, Profes....I mean, honey?

Gast: Oh, I'm thinking of taping it on video. But, the video's not working right..

Ifalna: What are you going to tape? Is there still something I haven't mentioned?

Gast: No, that's not it. I'm going to record my beautiful daughter. And when she's sleeping, her face..looks like an angel.

Ifalna: First, we have to figure out her name. We can take the video later!

Gast: I've already decieded! If it's a girl, then it'll be Aerith. That's that!

Ifalna: You are SO selfish! But Aerith is a good name! Hee hee....it's a good name, considering it came out of that forgetful head of yours!

Gast: Right!? Oh, the video tape....

Tape 4: Daughter's Record: 20th Day after birth

Ifalna: Video again? You just got through taping!

Gast: ....Please don't say it that way. It's our lovely daughter, both yours....and mine! Don't you want to capture her childhood on videotape.

Ifalna: If you keep doting on her like that, she won't grow up to be strong....Aerith is different from the other children. I wonder what dangers await her....

Gast: Never say that! I will protect you and Aerith no matter what!! You and Aerith are my only treasures. I'll never let you go!!

Ifalna: I feel so much better now, darling. If I hadn't met you, I....

*Knock**Knock*

Gast: Who could that--! I was just about to....Damn!! How dare they intrude on our "private time" together!....I'll send them away.

Ifalna: Yes, at once!!....Who the devil?

Gast: It, it's them!!

Hojo: Heh, heh, heh....I've been searching for you, Ifalna....or should I say, Cetra! Long time no see, Professor Gast!

Gast: Hojo....How did you know?

Hojo: Believe me, I had to turn over a stone or two to find you. Two years I waited....That's how much I wanted this new sample....Ha, ha, ha.

Gast: ...New sample? You don't mean Aerith!?

Hojo: Hmm, Aerith? What a nice name....Ha, ha, ha.

Gast: That's it! I'm severing all ties with the Shinra. Hojo, please leave.

Ifalna: Please, Aerith has nothing to do with it! All you want is me, right?

Gast: Ifalna!

Hojo: I'll need all of you for my experiment.  You understand, don't you, Professor Gast? We can change the future of the Planet!

Gast: Don't worry, Ifalna. I'll take care of this!

Hojo: Please don't put up a fight. I don't want any harm to come to my precious sample.....Mmm? What a funny looking camera. Guard! Destroy it!

*Crash*

Hojo: Be careful with her!! Ha, ha, ha....

Gast: Wh....what are you doing, Professor!? Ifalna! Take Aerith and run!!

*Bang*

Gast: Eyaaaaah...Darling...!

Hojo: ....Oh, and uh....don't forget the child!....Hmm, a video? The Ancients....Weapon!? Heh, heh, heh....a mountain of treasure! Thank you, Professor....Ha, ha, ha.

The dialogue's been inserted and finished, now I just need to make the houses.

Now for the end of the game, I'm going to have Cloud's explanation of what has happened to him to include the story of what happened to him and Zack following the events at Nibelheim.

"Gast: I've already decieded! If it's a girl, then it'll be Aerith. That's that!"
There's a spelling mistake. That should be "decided".

Also, if she's already 10 days old, then you shouldn't go "If it's a girl". They already know it's a girl.

@lugia dialog is excellent exept for one thing. Jenova is a she.

This actually came from the original game.  I kinda think that Jenova was referred to as "he" on purpose.  Jenova was called "he" and "him" too many times to be a typo.
The "decieded" was a typo on my part.

I can't believe I didn't catch that, I'll fix that part.

I'll change "I've already decided! If it's a girl, then it'll be Aerith. That's that!" to "I've already decided! Her name will be Aerith. That's that!"

Here's a video of the scene from the game:

When I first saw this scene, I thought it would be interesting if Square Enix made a Final Fantasy VII prequel that takes place during the time of the Cetra when Jenova first appeared.

Yep, that's a boy alright.

Pikachumanson

So um... Could this explain why Sephiroth is screwed up with his mommy/daddy issues?

detox420

Jenova was a creation not a he or a she so idk really what to call it.

Pikachumanson

Nope, Jenova was a life sucking, planet destroying alien who mimiked the forms of the planets inhabitants. Hence, why it was called "calamity from the sky".

Since Jenova never really has a permanent appearance, maybe when Jenova came to the planet, it was in the form of a male.  Then when the Cetra defeated Jenova and sealed it away, the female form happened to be the form it was in when it was defeated.

Come to think of it, I only recall Sephiroth referring to Jenova as She, her, and Mother.  Other than Sephiroth, I don't think anyone else referred to Jenova as a female.  Mostly they called Jenova "it".

Thats cool. Its better to take your time and do a quality job then to rush it and have something that is trash. A good example is from this famous quote said by the creator of Mario and Zelda....

"A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever." ― Shigeru Miyamoto
