Shinjuku for Kujinshi, Shinagawa for Wagnas, Gotanda for Dantarg, Okubo for Bokuohn, Ebisu for Subier, Ueno for Noel, and Ikebukuro for Rocbouquet.
Those are some loose anagrams.

I can't type Japanese here, sop maybe I'll edit this later.

u-e-no is an anagram for no-e-ru?
shi-na-ga-wa for wa-gu-na-su?
shi-n-ju-ku for ku-ji-n-shi?
go-ta-n-da for da-n-ta-gu?
o-ku-bo for bo-ku-o-n?
e-bi-su for su-bi-e (that one actually works)
i don't remember the exact kana for Rocbouquet, it's been a while since I played. If the developers were attempting amagrams, they're pretty bad at them. Actually, they look more like loose backwards speak in kana then anagrams.

As I am more of a purist on translations of this type I suggest keeping the original names of the seven heroes seeing as not even everyone in japan would get the link to trains being that they are anagrams.
Its more of those things where if you are in the know and like anagrams you will get it or, as is more common, someone will tell you about it and you will go "Ooooohh, cool."
If they were named after them letter for letter that would be different but well...

My sentiments exactly. I realized that there's not a way to translate the anagrams into English without changing the names themselves. If anyone is interested, these are the train stations and the names they correspond to:

Shinjuku for Kujinshi, Shinagawa for Wagnas, Gotanda for Dantarg, Okubo for Bokuohn, Ebisu for Subier, Ueno for Noel, and Ikebukuro for Rocbouquet.

I appreciate everybody's suggestions, but I'll probably just include this little tidbit in the translator's notes. :)

I'll post again when I have more updates on the translation progress...

thanks eien! this is easily the most awaited translation of the last years :)

as stated i would keep the names too :)

We're all excited, buddy. Playing RS2 and being able to understand it will be marvelous.

Switch to decaf.  ;)

It'll be interesting to play RS2 in English. I loved 3 but didn't like the fact that the translation was incomplete or at least rather unpolished.

The storyline I've read for 2 also seems more interesting (generations of characters IIRC). I'm not a graphics whore either which is good.

Likewise. I started playing Star Ocean 4 the other day, and stopped about 15 hours in so I could go back to playing the first one.

all is back to normal and this topic too... as a status update, eien finished all of her work and sent it to gideon's for the insertion/patching/whatever... since then we haven't had any other news (from gid's work) and happened everybody knows what to the forum.

Yes, necro-post, but I was curious if there is any news regarding this. Thanks and sorry if this was in vain.

Dude, just Google, why don't you?

The patch came out quite some time ago.  And the translation group responsible is now dead.

Romancing SaGa 2 is not SaGa 2.

You fail literacy forever, sir.
