Mega Man X was one of the first games that I got into playing, and it got me into the Mega Man franchise. I've played it a few times and can say with certainty that I have mastered the game. I know the locations of every item by heart and I can even get through the game without getting killed (except for the five times you have to commit suicide to get the Hadōken, of course) and am now looking for a better challenge and so I have come here. I would like someone to make a Hard Mode, per se, of Mega Man X on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. My only rule is that the challenge has to be legitimate; Something along the lines of Mega Man 9's difficulty. I still have to be able to collect all the Sub-tanks, Heart Tanks, and armor capsules, but other than that, you can pretty much go crazy. I don't have a deadline for completion, so take as much time as you need to.

A final note to any admins, if this is the wrong section, please either let me know or move this request to the appropriate section, as I'm new here.

Thank you in advance.

Good to know.

Why don't you give it a whirl, DevonS? We're more of the "teach a man to fish" persuasion here.

If you ask me, it's more a culture of "let a man teach himself to fish" than anything else.

Same general idea. If you're coming here with grand ideas for a romhack, you've got two options: either learn to do it yourself, or leave disappointed.

And we do help, provided you show you're capable of comprehending the help we provide. For your sake, you'd better already be a decent programmer; we can't really help you write the tools you'll need to edit the game the way you want.

(BTW: Have you ever obtained the Heart Tank in Spark Mandrill's stage without the Boomerang Cutter? Or, in X2, the one in Overdrive Ostrich's stage without dying? :3)

Pretty sure I got the Spark Mandrill one once.

And you don't need to commit suicide to get the Hadouken. Just go into the boss room to warp out, or use the Escape Unit or whatever it was called.

Yep. Exact response I expected to see when I opened the thread...

I would love to see a good rom hack of this game.  Mainly, I want to have new experiences in obtaining the items.  It will be a long wait untll somebody with both the desire and the skills comes forth.  I've felt the same way about Oracle of Seasons, and now that dream is almost realized.

There is a MMX Level Editor but that's about it so far and it's fairly complicated from the looks of it :/  You could always have people test that out and see what they come up with.
'We have to find some way to incorporate the general civilians in the plot.'

'We'll kill off children in the Juuban district with an infection where they cough up blood and are found hanging themselves from cherry blossom trees.'

tc

Eh... MMX is far from the game needing this. Numerous others have more unfair bosses or broken weapons.
