I am not really sure about what u want to do with that wiki page but if u want a place where u find emulators sorted by OS and system, jump over to http://www.zophar.net/. They have always the best news about emus.
If u want to open that wiki page just to find out what configuration is the best for your laptop, i think nobody will support u doing that.

This sounds to me as if what you want is someone to "fix" bsnes to suit your specific needs. What do you expect, that a ton of people will submit source code fixes and patches for bsnes? If you want to keep up with bsnes development, the official forum is the place to go.
All my posts are merely personal opinions and not statements of fact, even if they are not explicitly prefixed by "In my opinion", "IMO", "I believe", or similar modifiers. By reading this disclaimer you agree to reply in spirit of these conditions.

What are you talking about?  What it "sounds" like?

Most vexing is optimizations. I want to make bsnes run as fast as possible on my laptop, and the conventional wisdom is that I should go out and learn C++ so I can playtest an ogre battle hack at more than 40 fps.  The community over at byuu.org is organized according to the convenience of the most learned community members - who help newbs when they feel like it - when it could be organized so that newbs can help other newbs with common issues, and therefore raise the general IQ of the community at large.

Yeah that is what it sounds like. Now you are saying what you want is just a compilation guide for Ubuntu? What does that have to do with romhacking? This is something you need to ask byuu about.

Sorry if I appear rude, just pointing out what I read here. If I misunderstand maybe you could try to explain it better.

Now it's much more clear what u want to do but i think that nobody is really interested in this project.
There are people (like me) that take what they get because they lack in programming skills and there are the ones that have those programming skills. Who have the programming skills, will probably prefer to start a new emulator and know where to find the informations he need to program it.
Only a view people would mess around an already made emu apart maybe to port it to a new system.
Anyway u can try and start that page...maybe u will be lucky and there are more interested than i think.
good luck
