Really, the extra features in the DS version are kind of, well, "shite" sums it up nicely.

To elaborate, half of it is pointless fetchquestery, and the other half, while still not great, is best described as pure fanservice. They found someplace to wedge the alternate battle theme and the Singing Mountain track, and we finally learn why Porre turned against Guardia between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

Also, Schala Lives, but for those who know how Chrono Cross goes, it's not exactly a happy reunion: she's fused with Lavos from an alternate timeline to become the Dream Devourer and serves as a final bonus boss. And in the aftermath, Magus loses his memory and gets stranded in the El Nido Archipelago. That's right: they finally went back and said "yes, Guile was Magus all along; happy now?"

Deets

Learn Japanese and play the SFC version. Dead serious.

Woolsey did a phenomenal job, especially considering the circumstances he was working under. Anyone who says otherwise, who complains about the "atrocities committed to the original script" is just posturing.
