And under 10 minutes? You sure know your SMB tiles!  :-*
Oh, whoops! It's a mockup. I mean I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to put it in an actual SMB ROM, but I didn't even put it into the real game. Aheh... sorry.

Not bad at all, but I would use the term Sis. (in comparison with Bros.)
See, I thought about that, but to make it totally one-for-one with the title Super Mario Bros., you'd need to make it Super Peach Sises, which looks awkward. I mean, simply Super Peach Sis. could work, but then you lose the plural that the original title was going for. Super Peach Siss. is out of the question from the start.

Then there's the fact that Peach and Daisy aren't related like Mario and Luigi are--they're cousins, not sisters, right? At least, that's what I was told. So SMB became SPG.

This is for real:

It took about an hour for me to put this together and implement it into the ROM.

I also fixed the formatting of the Mushroom Retainers' text:

I won't distribute a modified patch for this unless I can get permission from Kishi.

Based on the official US logos (see this and this) but with the game's logo coloring.

Noting that the text is skewed a bit to the left and will be moved right in the final version.

Nice work on this, did you hand draw the tiles or modify a font for the logo?

It took me some time but I guess it's not bad:

I like the title "Trippy Travels". Might I suggest switching the order of the words around a bit and calling it "Stan 'n' Erica's Trippy Travels" instead? IMO, "Stan 'n' Erica" rolls off the tongue a little bit better than "Erica & Stan". Plus, people usually give nicknames to games for conversation, and people would definitely call this one "Trippy Travels" instead of the full title, so I think it's best to make "Trippy Travels" the most prominent part of the title screen. You could keep the layout closer to the original that way, too.

Gah, where were you months ago when I spent time hacking that title in? Granted it's not finished and now it seems like wasted effort. If you're reading this Flash or anyone else, let's ditch the slanted design in favor of making "Trippy Travels" wavy in a mind-bending way. Erica and Stan can the balloons, but there's a problem with how they are displayed. Since they are sprites, the NES can only handle 8 per scanline which makes Erica too long to be displayed as a straight line. Something needs to be done to overcome this limitation.

So I assume the word "trippy" floats or bobs?

If so, maybe you could try warping the letters to make them look bowed, to give more of a balloon look. Hard, but I don't think impossible at 16px.

I suggest SMB Princesses as the name. I'm assuming Daisy is P2.

That's also a good one, but you'd need to organize the title screen in a different way... unless you wanted to be lazy and put "PRINCESSES" in the in-game font under the original title screen. :P

Daisy was the princess of Sahasraland, in Super Mario Land.
The manual doesn't mention anything of its relation to the Mushroom Kingdom. Just that Mario suddenly heard of Tatanga's takeover and decided to stop it.

But then again, who knows how Nintendo's twisted the history of the SMB universe. Once they (apparently) said the Koopalings aren't Bowser's kids, I know what to believe anymore. :P

Eh, not really. I just thought "I don't want to call it Super Peach Sisters, and Peach and Daisy aren't sisters anyway."
but thank you. :) now if we could just get ahold of kishi to put in mattrizzle's edits.

Unfortunately, Kishi hasn't logged into this board for a week.  I did send a message though.

Courtesy of FlashPV.

Mind you, it'll look even better once I hack it in and the auto-rainbow effect is applied in-game.

This is a take on a new Intro Screen for my ongoing Contra hack. With my previous demo releases, it was restricted to simple palette changes. Because the PPU Data is compressed (much like graphics and level data), moving tiles around is a little more tedious. At first, I moved the "Contra" tiles towards the top (sacrificing the Konami Logo in the process) to place the rest of the title text below, but I think this layout looks neat. What do you think?

not for me~~~

I don't really remember what the original looks like, but I think the layout has a nice balance between empty and important stuff, and also the color scheme is really nice on the eyes and thematically.
