Yeah, whatever, I have no idea what that means.  All I was pointing out is if there was no l in the English word soldier, it would probably not be pronounced with that hard j sound (that is really more of a blend of the d and j sound), instead it would likely be pronounced as so deer or so dee ur.  Merriam-Webster's pronunciation guide for the word breaks it down thusly: sol·dier \ˈsōl-jər\ (notice the d is omitted entirely, yet it would be the dominant sound in the rendering Parodier).  Anyway, that's my last statement on the issue, I am obviously extremely ignorant in matters of linguistics, so I will bow before your superior sagacity.  :-X

I have to agree with Ace on this one. For one reason. If this were given to the average person that has no idea about the rest of the series they wouldn't have any reason to think it's a parody of star soldier. Parodier sounds like it's meant to be the job title of a person that parodies things. From a localization point of view it would make much more sense to include the l if for nothing else than recognizably. You give Paroldier to the average person and they will instantly think of the word soldier since it's the most commonly used word, or pretty much the only one, in English that has "ldier" in it. I would definitely go with Paroldier; space permitting.

I always thought the game was part of the Parodius series, but looking now I see it appears to be Hudson's version of Parodius. Incidentally, all this discussion is kinda pointless since no one is actually working on the game.

Star Parodia gets my vote.

Wouldn't it make more sense to start from the existing English proto? Unless there's some flaw with that version. :-\

Exactly my point, thank you for stating it so eloquently.

The removed the Japanese text in those little art scenes between the levels and the endings. And in the endings the only Japanese stuff was the credits and a few enemy names. However, 3 of those endings were removed in the canceled USA version.

Figured I'd show off this fine title screen since I finally got it hacked in.

I'm pretty sure they would have called it something else if it was released outside of Japan.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that associating the name Jesus with a dreadful bio-monster probably wouldn't have gone over too well in countries with a Christian background.  >:D  Gotta love the Japanese, they're probably oblivious to how irreverent and in poor taste that would be interpreted as.

Even though the title is not totally irrelevant to the game, only the first part of the game takes place on the JESUS space station, the rest out in space on the Neptune and Corona ships. That's where the meat of the game lies. I think they wanted something that was catchy or memorable for a title. Incidentally, the the biomonster subtitle was only for the Famicom port, the rest of the games are just known as JESUS.

So, that being said, maybe we should make up a more appropriate name for the English translation(s)....

I don't see why it's necessary. Fan translations usually don't care about censorship.

At the very least, the title's not descriptive. Not saying you should change it, but there's more than one decent argument for doing so.

I like the top left one, that is, no italics slanted.

Agreed. If you could, could you make "Project EDEN" a bit bigger? It's really hard to read, even on a giant TV blown up a bit.
