In the "od" of "Parody" would work well.

Agreed. It hadn't crossed my mind that the US one shares its background color with the lower half of the letters instead, affecting its readability when moved onto a different background.

Here's a second pass.

Double post update:

I worked in some of the additional eyes from the Japanese version as well.

I love the way the Parody World part looks just like the Monster World one. It really looks authentic. By the way, is the translation project stated for a Halloween release?

That was the plan, but I've been busy with other stuff and that's not gonna happen.

Thanks, Clippit.

I tried the eyes in various layouts.

I quite like the double googly eyes and their location relative to text in the prototype; imitating it is a pretty high priority for me.

I actually had intended on imitating the typeface from it as well, until I realized that the only difference between it, stylistically, and the US one was being squared instead of rounded.

I think I have about wrapped up a patch for Tomato's script of Akuma-kun.
All it's lacking is a title.
AFAIK there's no official translation.
Any designers want to work on it?
Beware, it's animated. I got the frames, though.

Beware though that this was one of Tomato's first translations, so it's quite rough. Even Tomato himself would encourage someone to redo it from scratch (though I wouldn't mind sharing the hacking stuff to save someone a lot of work in that part).
(I had done this so Tomato will have patches I think for all his work. I left this largely alone except editing for space as well as to fix a few errors that could disrupt progress.)

Enemy and spell names could probably be improved, but I had figured maybe an initial release might encourage people to play and discuss.

I'm needing a little help from anyone willing to help  :)

From left to right:
- Current version of the title screen used in the English translation patch
- Mock up version with the correct title but it needs to be on two lines with "Target:" being on the first line and "Godchild" being on the second
- Blank title screen for anyone that wants to try and help

Drakon is the font being used which can be downloaded here and all three images compressed into one archive can be downloaded here.

The current image as well as the mock up was made by another person and I'm having trouble getting the text to have that rock look with the cracks in it as well as trying to match the drop shadow. I would like the text to be same size & color as the first image (current title screen for our project). If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

Another title screen done for Pennywise. This one for Rainbow Silk Road, shown at 200% scale. Original and previous translation's titles are shown below it.

Nice! That's a much better title. It gives it a lot more weight. and reduces some of that empty space which is always a good thing.

Yeah, I gotta give props to M-Tee for his designs. Anyhow, he has yet to show off another design of his for another project of mine. We need to do the animations and then it'll be finished. No pressure, M-Tee!

I need a few title screen designs and I'm just throwing these out here for anyone to take a stab at.

SD Gundam Adventures - Knight Gundam Story
Ninja Jajamaru The Ninja Scrolls

Since the English title for Gundam is quite a bit longer than the original, the design will need to be mindful of tile limitations. The max unique tile count is 176.

I think I asked but I assume the latter is going to be a direct translation, without the changes from the US beta (graphics edits and SRAM support)?

They both look pretty straight forward. I'll take a stab at both of them.

As for Jajamaru, we only do straight J-E translations. Besides that US proto is all messed up and we like to work with the original source directly instead of a modified work.

Actually, I just got a bit busier with other things, so it's probably best I don't take on another couple of screens. If anyone else wants to take a pass at them, feel free.

Instead of everything matching Mother, I'd rather see English title screens (and gameplay changes) to make EarthBound Advance (Mother 3) exactly as NoA would have released it as a sequel to EarthBound, censorship, name changes and all. Screw staying true to Japan, I prefer Americanizations at times. (It depends though, Super Mario Bros. 2 is better than Super Mario USA or Doki Doki Panic, and the other game is Lost Levels, never to be referred to as SMB2 outside of Japan, but Ranma 1/2 is better than Street Combat. Ash is his name in Pokemon, not Satoshi, etc.) Same for the NES version. Call it EarthBound Zero for NES and GBA. On the GBA, delete part 2 (or dummy it out), so the game starts immediately on the EarthBound Zero title screen. Also they should reflect the changes to SNES EarthBound as well.

Doing an update of the original NES Tecmo Bowl for the folks over at TecmoBowl.org. Tried to keep the spirit of the original without being overtly 8-bit, if that makes any sense.

I'm with you on the English title screens, just not the censorship. Nintendo no longer goes crazy for censorship like they used to. To me, Earthbound is the series known as Mother in Japan. I'd like to see Mother 3 made into Earthbound 2. Keep the red title screen.

Nintendo never censored games, NOA did. And NOA stopped as soon as the ESRB was created, which was around 1994 or so.

For their own games after 1994 it wasn't so much about censoring, but about keeping a low ESRB rating to maximize the audience. Lots of other companies did the same thing when bringing over games from Japan.

Hey all. I'm doing a title screen edit for an Alex Kidd in Miracle World hack and would appreciate a comment on which of the below looks better to you;

The issue I had was that I can't draw any further left, nor any further right than in the second pic.
