After 2 years in development and countless hours of hard work, the Front Mission 5 fan translation is now complete! Voice-overs aside, everything else has been changed from Japanese to English. Interfaces, menus, graphics, and of course, the dialogue itself! There were sound-related problems with the English-subtitled opening FMV (no sound in the game) so YouTube was used as a workaround solution.

Enjoy the final product and many thanks to all those who supported us (including you, the romhacking.net community)!

Well, congratulations, PS2 translations are not that common to say the least. Does anyone know how to apply the patch? My time is limited and i don't have it right now to browse through several 40 pages or something gamefaq threads, i admit i gave up after half an hour of searching....

The wiki link's download link (bad request) takes you to a forum which won't surrender ImageDiff's location unless you register and earn a "dumper" status. But you only realize that after you do a search and bounce between a few more links. Needlessly cumbersome. @_@

The wiki's instructions are golden, though.

Then this "до завтра! (Da zaftra!) " is just ridiculous. This is pure "Red heat", if you know what I mean.

Yeah, it's written differently, but it's spelled more or less that way. So maybe they went for the phonetical version of the phrase.

Yeah, "dulak" is also correct phonetical version

This is the same as comparing "в" and "ф".

It's actually pretty obvious why translators went with "zaftra" instead of "zavtra". People's Republic of Zaftra is Russia in Front Mission world, so they wanted to show that it's not just some made-up word, that it actually has meaning. "Da" instead of "do" is a very debatable choice, but "zaftra" is justified.

Zaftra is the official name. Period.

This might very well be a mistake, but this mistake is present in five main Front Mission games (and spin-offs as well, if Zaftra is mentioned in any of these), so it's as official as it gets. But yeah, developers' knowledge of Russian is certainly isn't stellar. Take, for example, FM4's main villain - Anizka Ivanovna Aleksandrow. This name is so incorrect it almost seems like an intended mockery...

Wow, it's finally done! This may be THE biggest translation project ever completed, in terms of amount of text - and even if it's not, it certainly is the one I was looking forward to the most! I've got nothing to do until February, so I guess it's time to replay the first four games and then move on to this one

~~I must say though, the font used in the cutscenes looks so out of place. Even if it's the font used in the original game's English names.~~

very nice. You guys amaze me sometimes...

I will put this on my backlog, just finished the original front mission and I intend to play them all, so perhaps in 2030 or so I will get around to this
