A new patch was released last night that fixed the text errors. There's still a couple more problems that will be fixed in a future release, including a glitch when you try to change players positions in battle from the menu, and a problem when casting a spell called See.

So far it seems the best emulator for this might be Gens. I can't really say what the problem is with other emulators sadly :/ I've been told it's not the patches fault. Seeing as the original Chinese ROM is reported to work fine though I don't know what to think. Hopefully something can be figured out eventually

Only patch it on a .bin ROM. .gen isn't a format that will work, neither will .smd

Wow. I never thought I'd see the day. Haven't been this happy about a fan translation release since MIJET's King Colossus patch. I guess all those years of sacrificing goats to the translation gods were worth it.

Bugfixes in the pending to update patch:

   - Fixed output of spell and item list in battle.
   - Spell "See" renamed to "Analyze" and
     fixed information output when it is used.
   - Fixed routine of numbers' output.
   - Fixed output of characters' names when
     switching their places in menu.

This is most likely an original game bug but... could you check into the defense stat? It seems to do absolutely nothing. I'm level 8 or 9, with the armor from the second town, and slimes still hit me just as hard as they did when I started the game.

I think it's allright with defense stat. The current monsters I meet at 23 level hit me just 1-3 HP except if they did not a vexing blow.

Did anyone get to Imir yet? The road is washed out by lava, so I think you are supposed to talk to the chief in Manei to go to the volcano. The guys blocking the path never leave though and the chief is no help. I guess I probably didnt do something, but I am not sure what... Maybe backtrack and get rid of the barrier on the castle? Lot of crazy secrets in this game, I am finding a bunch while looking around.

Well it seems like you can easily run from the fights... and you get as many chances as characters in your party... but I have found a bunch of cash in secrets... there is a nice secret area south of the cave to imir that had a magic seed and I think a flame shield.. Also one in the small cave where you fight the witch... it like a summoning spell... pretty powerful I think. Its strange how spells that hit all enemies seem to focus on a solo enemy if thats all there is in the fight. Anyways I think I hit a bug in the game... maybe ill start over and make sure I talk to everyone so I dont get off track.

I found a secret of my own: After you do the butterfly capturing and cure the girl, go back to the forest and take the north opening, the first of the two. an optional boss will be there, another butterfly. Beat it(Not the easiest thing in the world to do, mind you), and you'll get the Butterfly summon.

Might be a bug in the patch. I got past the part I got stuck at (going to the volcano north of manei) by using the unpatched rom. I talked to a villager in Manei who says to talk to the chief so he would remove guys at the north exit of the village. The chief actually does this on the unpatched rom, but he just says something about the volcano on the patched one. Also might be another bug when you try to sell your magic... I scrolled to the bottom of Tim's list and it froze. I guess many people would miss this... seems strange you can sell your magic... especially in this game that actually gives you enough money unlike many other RPGs.

Yes there is a bug. SteveMartin deleted the control code in dialog about to talk with a chief.

I hope there is not many bugs of such type.

I guess if you're going to take your battle system from another game, Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy VI and Breath of Fire 2 would be good choices.

In any case, this is pretty impressive. I like what's being done with the Genesis here. I do wonder if something like Chrono Trigger would have been able to be ported. I suspect so, with some necessary sacrifices. Also, the hacking job looks very good. Great job, guys!

Has anyone gotten it to work on the Wii Genesis emulator yet? I tried it, and I got the same black screen as everyone else ('course, that was the original patch).

Seems this game uses a lot of FF6 stuff IIRC, like some NPC, tiles, and even the protagonist's laugh sprite reminds me of that? And when I read the opening lines, I thought it was a FF6 port.

No doubt they ripped it off.

I think the character Ayrshire's sprite is Kefka

I never noticed until now. Browsing through what's available on spriters-resource.com though I can't find much else that looks familiar.
