After several months in the making, the English translation of the obscure Taiwanese Megadrive RPG Barver Battle Saga is now released, and reborn as Brave Battle Saga - Legend of the Magic Warrior!

A lot of work went into bringing this game to an English audience, so we hope you all enjoy this very fine release, just in time for New Years!

Wow. What an awesome way to end the year! I now have a reason to get that Genesis emulator for my Wii! Awesome job, guys!

Why's the patch 0.99? What's not done?

It's right next to 1.00(final) since we haven't play tested the whole thing through yet. That's where we're going to need the help of all you fine members here

I don't have any idea if there's any more typos, glitches or what have you left over that haven't gone noticed yet. So if anyone notices any glitches or something wrong, please post it here!

I see. I didn't even gain control of the main character yet, and I already found a typo. >_>

Hacking work is great, though, from what I can see.

Gah, that's odd. I was just going through the whole script the other day and that wasn't there. Possibly my PC is to blame, I recently got a virus and rewrote over my old windows installation with a new one. Since then text files have come out all messed up, I don't know what happened. I possibly sent Djinn a bad script.

Anyway, keep them coming, bound to be even more in there if that made it.

Edit: PLEASE READ! A bug was discovered with Regen, preventing saving. It's suggested you use Kega or Gens for the time being. I'll b sure to report this to Djinn and try to get it fixed.

Updated patch coming soon. We've got confirmation that the patch works fine with a Tototek flash cart. Besides the em dashes turning into E's thanks to my encoding issues, any other glitches thus far appear to be emulator glitches and nothing that's a result of the patch.

Anyone else that has flash carts, please post if you come across any glitches. So far it's been confirmed not to work with the Neo Flashcart.

That's weird, I just started the game and didn't get the error that DarknessSavior did. The text is appearing fine.

Perhaps we used different roms? Mine was "Barver Battle Saga - The Space Fighter (Ch).gen"

Patch has already been updated since this news post. You downloaded the fixed one.

Patch has already been updated since this news post. You downloaded the fixed one.

I patched rom "Barver Battle Saga - The Space Fighter (Ch).gen" and also "Barver Battle Saga - The Space Fighter (Ch).bin"n" and they both load to a blank screen

I can't believe this is a pirate rom, it's better than most legit RPGs from back then. I especially love how fast everything moves. The hacking is just insane, I tried the Chinese version and was blown away by all the changes you guys were able to implement.

Thanks for all the hard work guys, I'm about 2 hours in and it's the most fun I've had with an RPG since Treasure of the Rudras.

Hmm, yeah, I'm also getting a black screen trying to load it on Genesis Plus for Wii. The same ROM seems to load fine in Kega, but I'd really rather play it on the Wii. :\

EDIT: Just wanted to note that the original Chinese ROM appears to work just fine.
