i guess i did go off on a tangent. what im basically asking is - how can I get animated tiles out of GreatEd's mmc3-expanded rom? (and perhaps like the patch i supplied?) but thinking about it now, that's a tall order for a beginner

hello. lately ive been tinkering around with various smb1 hack-related things, and i discovered an MMC1 patch by Chacky that allows for 1 extra frame of sprite animation and 3 extra frames of background animation for each level type (water, ground, underground, castle) and ive enjoyed it very much. im interested in greated's editing capabilities, but it patches the rom to MMC3, making it incompatible with either loading the patched rom or applying the patch afterwards.
i noticed greated expands the chr rom by a lot, but doesn't seem to do any bankswitching. in addition, the manual does not seem to state anything regarding the expanded chr. im no hacker, so i have no experience in this sort of thing. (i'll at least settle for only one set of expanded graphics rather than by level type) if i can't figure it out, i might just use smb utility and apply the mmc1 patch last, but it will limit the possibilities i can seek through greated. thanks for any help and answers
