Newcomer's Board / Adding a VWF to a Gameboy game, how hard is it?
« on: September 10, 2019, 06:50:47 am »
I want to do a VWF hack for Final Fantasy Adventure as it's one of my favorite Gameboy games and nobody else seems to be interested in doing it. My question is how hard is it?, I already have some experience in ASM before, and I know people who can (probably) help me. I also need to know what tools are recommended to hack Gameboy games, I know Ghidra has a Gameboy plugin, but what else?

Has anyone tested if the bugs in the official translation were fixed?, like the evasion and critical hits not working?

In case if you're out of the loop, There're some bugs with the patch used to enable 3 players as mentioned here: Has anyone attempted to fix this bug?, I really wanted to play this game with some of my friends.

Do you see the graphics at all in the ROM? (even with the wrong colors)
If you can't find the graphics at all, then they are probably compressed and unless someone has already documented the compression or written a tool, it will take advanced skills (such as knowing 65816 ASM) to modify them.

Nope, however someone did make a decompression tool

Is there any other way I can hack the Graphics in this game?, I tried ZSNES but it's super buggy for reasons that people in the emulation scene probably already know why.

Hi there, I was wondering if it's possible to edit the Graphics in Kirby Superstar, I know about YY-CHR, but it seems that I have to have the palette file to get the colors to display properly, where can I get that?
