I'm doing exactly as you say, but no matter what stage I'm on it still doesn't charge. :-\

I found some free space at 0FFC0 (0FFB0 w/o header).

So I wrote the JMP as 4C B0 BF. Then wrote the rest as is.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Anyone who's played Little Nemo notices the Morningstar sceptor on Nemo's back, but it doesn't come into play until Stage 8: Nightmare Land... OMFGlazyCapcom!

Anyway, my intention is to allow the Morningstar to be used as a bludgeoning weapon from stage 1, but cannot be charged until reaching stage 8.

I found the value that indicates what stage Nemo can use the Morningstar:

01D510: 07 <- change that to '00' & now the game is horribly easy :D

I also found the values that indicate the Morningstar's max power & charge beam sound:

00EF15 - 60 <- change that to '00' & now Nemo can't charge
01A862 - 02 <- change that to 'FF' & now there's no indication whatsoever that the Morningstar can charge

Here's where my expertise comes to an end.

I still need the Morningstar to be able to charge upon reaching stage 8, & I know this will require some Jump routines to fit in the extra code to check what stage the player is on. And with my limited ASM skills, I've tried doing this but can't make heads or tails of the results (game crashing, nothing happening, etc.)

Can anyone lend me a hand/do this whole thing for me? :D

Windhex is my choice for translation hacking.

Translhextion has always been my hex editor of choice for everything else (anything that doesn't involve tables!).

I remember buying my copy new (this was exceptional because this was well after 2004) so I probably have a newer version, & my copy also erased everything during story mode (on my final belt title at that!).

Quick question, will it do it again? :-\

Why do you use donors?

I find it very green :) By using donors, I am not firing up a large, polluting factory to produce new boards and chips. There are literally thousands of available sports titles, which no one plays and are sitting on store shelves, which can be used. These titles, due to large quantity of production and low demand, will more than likely end up in landfills.

Honestly, though. Is it so much just to ask if it's okay to sell someone's romhack? It's not like we're hiding behind a wall here. Authors' contact info is usually in the txt file.

I let The NES Dump post my Contra translation. Though someone told me now there's a glitch that makes the game harder. :-\

I can't quite figure out how editing objects work on this. :-\

The English tutorial barely explains anything.

What I'm trying to do is take advantage of the unused rooms to make the level longer, so I need to move whatever triggers the boss. Is it possible to do that with this editor?

Okay, I can't figure this out for the life of me.

I could really use something like this for a head-to-head competition I want to do. :-\

Y'know when you're fighting a robot master, or something, & you almost beat them, but then suddenly you run out of weapon energy & you die? And even worse... you still have 2 lives left! :o So there's, like, no way you're going to win, because you suck at Mega Man 2 >:D & need a certain weapon.

To the point...

I'm trying to hack the pointers so weapon energy is filled up as well as health between deaths.

I found what I'm looking for:

80C6: 8D C0 06 <- I change C0 06 to 00 9C to refill Heat Man's weapon, 00 9D for Air Man, etc.

But with this method, I can only modify one weapon - I need to refill everything! Anyone do anything like this before? Have any of the Mega Man hacks done this?

I'd love to see a Journey to Silius hack that lets you shoot up.
