I've tried to search for "the jabu" https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=14325 a long time but couldn't find any trace. He really had done awesome patches and fixes but he/she isn't active here since 5 years now. I'd like him to update Super Turrican for the NES with a proper Turrican sprite (looking more like the one from Amiga releases) and proper colors. It also hurts my eyes that everything is grey and the Turrican sprite is bright white.

What about if somebody could put an intro screen before the title screen appears?

I'm still working on it, it's just a quick resize with NES palette and clean face. I'm editing the Turrican logo to be more clean with sharp edges.

This thread was funny to read but I think summarizes a lot of opinions on both sides of the "purist" conflict
https://zeldauniverse.net/forums/Thread/145576-The-Legend-of-Zelda-the-one-for-the-NES-sucks/?pageNo=1

I wonder if the original devs saw the Redux patch, what would they (dis)agree with. Or if they developed Zelda 1 at around time of SMB3 technology.
It's fun to read how a 17 years old teenager in 2021 can't play a game which I played through (and also the second quest) when I was 11 years old in 1988!

NES can't do parallax; that thing there is a pseudo-parallax scroll made using the NES' resources intelligently, it isn't a real scroll.
Yeah. Well, I guess this guy is doing commercial stuff anyway. I don't think he'll collaborate in a free project like this.

256×224, 512x224, 256x239, 512x239, up to 512×448 (NTSC), 512×478 (PAL).
Ah, I always thought it was 224 lines horizontally because every PAL game I've played was in this height. Though I realized that NES games used MMCs which are special chips that might be not emulated at all on the SNES. Big N could have done this in hardware like the Super Game Boy, putting a special chip which combines all in-house and third-party MMCs in one to play all official released games. Of course this is possible with an Everdrive/SD2SNES which has the horsepower to do this.

Whatever that thing is, it certainly is someone else's project. I'd rather stick to sebastian's.

Yeah, me too. But wouldn't it be great if both projects became a great big one? It also has a parallax scrolling floor, which I thought to be impossible on a NES.

I always asked myself why it wasn't possible to do something like a NES addon just like the Super Game Boy for the SNES. Basically the Super Game Boy is a Game Boy without the screen/speaker/buttons. I always thought Big N could do something like that if they wanted to. But the SNES resolution could be a problem because it was a little bit smaller (256*224 instead of the NES 256*240)

I just saw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A7Se1w-nRw on youtube. Does it anything have to do with this project?
It has great sprite collision detection and moves so smooth. I hope this is real.

CryinOnion: thank you very much for the contribution friend sounds great, you can take a look at the latest update of Amilgi also sounds amazing!
Flaviogames: It was a great idea of Amilgi to put voices but it is discarded for the moment because we need an encoder to introduce those sounds to the rom, with respect to the simplified movements I tell you they were already abandoned because they were lost when decompiling the game.
I'm glad you like this project, I hope to finish it soon to share it with everyone greetings.
Can't wait for it!  :woot!:

Not quite sure tbh. I'm not sure if the No-Intro set has both versions of Zelda 1 or not.
Depends on whether that one is the PRG0 or PRG1 version of Zelda 1.
Both are different, and this hack only works for the PRG0 version.
There are two datted:
Legend of Zelda, The (USA)
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev 1)

I guess the one without any reference to Rev # is PRG0 and Rev 1 is the PRG1 version.

Files with iNES header v1 have these SHA1 checksums:
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) dab79c84934f9aa5db4e7dad390e5d0c12443fa2
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev 1) 3701381a82fc7d52b2dd3e8892047b30a114ab43

Files with iNES header v2 have these SHA1 checksums:
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) 799459548f9636dd263200da494f04058f5540e2
Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev 1) 4671517d72d09799403f6c672cd2b395933e926e

I guess the header doesn't bother much when patching as it doesn't touch this part of the file.

Update: Ok, I've just tried out both MMC1 & MMC5 patches on bot iNES header versions and they do work fine.

Rev 1 versions have garbled title screen so I guess they're the aforementioned PRG1 ones.

Is this patch compatible with the rom from the No-Intro set? I'm asking hence the checksum is different (both the iNES mapper versions 1 & 2).

Wow! Awesome work!  ;)

I know, I was referring to the official SF manual from the console versions. I didn't know those pics were actually from magazines, mainly because I couldn't find the real SFII manual on the web. Never mind that.

@sics: shouldn't there be an M. before Bison? Like, M.Bison? Then again I have no idea what the M. in his name is supposed to be. In the country I live some fans assume the letter as "Major" like "Major Bison" but it's not canon so I'm not sure what to do about it.
Normally M.Bison was the name of the boxer known as Balrog. It was a pun on M.Tyson, Mike Tyson. Fearing of lawsuit reasons they changed it.
So M.Bison is now Master Bison outside of Japan. https://streetfighter.fandom.com/wiki/M._Bison

Just a sidenote, wouldn't it be more approperiate to call the Magical Sword as the Master Sword instead?

Cool! I'm eagerly waiting for the final result! Going to apply the patch and test it out right now.
