It's quite interesting that the DS has standard file type for pretty much everything a DS Developer could want, it's something that competitor platforms haven't really done too much outside of basic naming conventions for executables and a specific directory structure (the PSP/PS3 comes to mind).

It makes emulating these platforms on future platforms for backwards compatibility quite interesting, as the hypervisor/emulator could analyse the game's code for library calls for accessing data from these formats and swap it out for code much more optimised for the new platform, or even for the case of the ARM7 binaries replace it altogether for games that ship with nintendo's binary (afaik all retail games still do this).

It also makes translating DS games much easier as if a game uses a known format that can be un/repacked then translating the game should be fairly straightforward with little to no ASM hacking required. It'll be interesting to see if other platforms adopt this approach in the future.

I haven't really done plugin stuff with .NET, I was just thinking if the alternative 3.5/< implementation is much more complex then requiring .NET 4.0 isn't out of the question, it's a legitimate reason since you're requiring .NET 4.0 features, but if it's not that much more effort to do it in 3.5 or less then fair enough

Why not just target .NET 4.0 and release as an installer with the framework bundled in with the app?

I remember there being a couple of tools here and there to extract sound archives and nitro archives, and one application that let you browse a DS rom and explore archives and filetypes and replace files, afaik this is what zero day hackers used for the DS Pokemon games. There's some Pokemon-specific tools too.

I'm impressed you've managed to do so much already, once those features are added I don't think there'll be a need for any other ds hacking tools apart from this one

I really like the photoshop-inspired UI you've got going there, how long did it take to code that? I shudder to think how long that'd take to re-implement in Objective-C, probably months -.-;

hmm I swear I did an M, I think it might be the outer glow I applied to it making it look like an N.

[edit]

Here's an updated one, I expanded the company name so the M's more obvious, and changed the font to something more suited to the handwritten/calligraphy font the main title uses

If you're able to use a 256-colour palette for the image then something like this could work:

151
If the videos are both using the same codec I'm sure you could even reuse code from Tales of Innocence if you ask Kingcom nicely enough

152
You could always do what Tales of Innocence did - use soft subs rendered over the top of the video, guessing it'd be a lot harder than re-encoding the video, but you would get a much higher quality result.

I get this when I load the webpage from your link, other sections of the website look fine.

I find if I then click home it fixes a bit, but it's still a bit dodgy alignment wise:

I'm using Safari 5.0.1 on OS X 10.6.5

It looks a bit screwy on safari, unless the right updates box is meant to push down the website description :P but the overall visual design is very nice, inset text always gets a big plus in my book, good work

omfg thanks Redcomet - this is awesome! :D :D

That sounds awesome, will you be providing any inbuilt decompression for plugins for the standard compression types like LZ77?

Cidolfas they have both Hi-res and Low-res models for KH2, the Hi-res ones have 3d mouths that ARE animated during cutscenes, in KH1 they're not used as much as they are in KH2 - pretty much voice acted cutscene in KH2 has full 3D animated mouths that are lipsynced to the voice acting.

Just to prove this, here's a cutscene where they're used constantly:
