holy...OW, my poor ears! no, never trying that rockman & forte sequel again. for crying out loud, that had to be some of THE worst audio i have ever heard in a video game.

They could have at least made new melodies, but instead recycled the melodies from the first Rock Man and Forte.

Just try different emulators yourself? I'm not interested in handhelds but I'd imagine something like no$gba would work with windows xp considering there is a DOS version available as well..

No$GBA is pretty good. I've been using it to play that game, and it even runs DS games better than my other emulator, which is pretty slow at times, but... I've been trying to link Gameboy games for a while with that emulator, but even after following every single rule on this site: http://ngemu.com/threads/no-gba-gba-games-multiplayer-instructions-and-faq.108599/
I STILL can't get it to work. In addition, the emulator becomes unusable if I try it, so I have to have the original file on hand to replace my emulator every time it becomes unusable.

I want an emulator that doesn't require that dlx-whatever bull****. Again, I use Windows XP so I want an emulator that can run on it, and also doesn't require I download a huge file.

Most reported successes have been using VBA-M or emulators based on such.  mGBA works with MV, but you're not the only one talking about crashing with it.  There's more info in the Personal Projects thread.

After playing a bit, there actually IS a predetermined time it crashes. Fortunately, just saving in game a lot can bypass this problem.

Anyone suggest an emulator for running Magical Vacation? It's not running on my VisualBoyAdvance, because I can't get past the title screen because the start game function doesn't come up, so I downloaded mGBA, but I have two problems with it.

A: It doesn't work on my computer upstairs which has Windows XP, and I don't like playing on my computer hooked up to the internet downstairs.
B: The emulator keeps crashing. No particular point in the game, just after playing it for a while, the emulator crashes.

Zero playable in Megaman X? Meh, to be honest, I'd rather have a species hack that changes X into an animal, to be honest. I know it's kind of dumb, but I personally would probably enjoy the game more if it didn't feel like "Humans are good/all other life is evil." I keep telling myself to do it myself, but I keep putting it off.

Geeze, there's just no stopping those FFIII hacks, is there?

I wonder if the Postman's Rush melody is based off another melody. Wouldn't be surprising, since another melody is basically just "Twinkle Twinkle." ...And don't ask why I found myself playing a pansy-ass Hamtaro game. ...I don't even remember. (It's... actually not as bad of a game as you'd think, to be truthful.)

I think Rockman 2: ONN's article should mentioned the changed music. That's something I look for in Megaman hacks and I almost didn't download it cause it wasn't mentioned.

By the way, what are all the melodies.

I looked EVERYWHERE for the answer to my problem. I even tried putting the patch in the folder of the roms, and now I get a "Not a VCDIFF input" error.

Wah! What am I doing wrong!?

Yes, I'm pretty sure. I even used the modded version that came with the patches, and I tried BOTH the regular and alternate patches, but nothing worked.

I'll try downloading that again to see if I have an outdated version, but if that doesn't work, I'm at a loss.

I'm only posting one game I need help with for now, but I think this might be useful for a general thread of patching problems.

This morning, I downloaded the rom for SaGa 2 for the NDS from *romsite removed*. A while ago, I had downloaded a translation patch for it, but have been waiting for a chance to download the rom.

...But I've tried many things to get the translation patch to patch on, but nothing works. I keep getting "Xdelta3/too many file names" errors. What am I doing wrong?

Do any of these have any actual differences in gameplay, or is Megaman and Rush's sprites basically the only thing changed?

I recognize the baku, kamaitachi, and tengu, but I'm not sure what "LUDO" is supposed to be (a hitotsume kouzo?).

The "LUDO" sprite doesn't really seem to match with the others style-wise.

That's right, it is Hitotsume Kouzo.

I'm an average spriter. I'm not amazing at it, but I can do 8-bit sprites well enough. Still, there are areas I do fall in. Any tips on how to make it look more like the other characters?

Also, the races shown in my other picture are: Kitsune, Choujin-Obake, Raijin (Mispelled Rajin in the Screenshot) and Tanuki. I also have Oni, Kasa-Obake, Yuki-Onna and Yatagarasu races planned.

Part of my preferred style as far as dialogue goes is giving bosses really corny dialogue. This is the BETA of a scene before the first boss, Grund. For now, it's an Ochu, kind of a gross creature, so I wanted to make it's dialogue sound a bit gross too. "Groody" is more or less a misspelling of the word "Groovy," another thing I end up doing with bossfights is making up strange, ugly words for them to say.


This was kind of explained in the last bit. Yeah, I replaced Garland with this creature.[/spoiler]

Now here's what I need help with. Every time I exit a fight or the menus, THIS happens.



The screen flashes and the game locks up temporarily. I'm worried removing Garland and replacing him with "Grund the Ochu" might have messed something up. Is that the problem, or is there another way to fix this?

...Also, minor thing, but I can't get Grund in the center. How do I do it. ...If I can't it's no big deal.

I tried applying the Musashi No Bouken patch, but it corrupted the rom.

There's a number of FF docs on this site. Even a disassembly. Something like that can be a bit overwhelming, but I guarantee it will have some of the information you are looking for (though good luck digging through that much data). Though, if someone has already done something similar to what you are wanting but has not released a doc, trying communicating with them directly. That would probably save you the headache of having to figure out all out by yourself.

If this game had different music than the original, I'd download pronto.
