ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: YouTube/Google Video thread

Holy crap that's amazing! (I'm a little late 'cause I usually ignore this thread...) Is it really coming out so soon? How long have you been working on this?

P.S. I love Spiderball.
Spiderball sucks . . . Only decided to use it in Singularity because of the incredible demand for it (and because it was an unexpected side effect of another code I was making).  When Alliance comes out, spiderball will be gone forever and all that will be left is magnetball (which I prefer much more).

As for how long I've been working on this.... I've been working on the ASM for Alliance for years now (2005, I believe), but only off and on.  It was only recently when I decided to create a trilogy instead, because I had too many conflicting ideas for one hack.  They will share a lot of the ASM and probably some other things, but will all have different purposes.

Bahhh.... Just remembered that this is the video thread and I responded without showing a vid:

Super Metroid "announcement" I made recently.  There are no level/graphical changes except where they were needed for the video.  Still there is:
  • a release date
  • a lot of asm changes

News Submissions / Re: Utilities: HME 4 Released
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:28:26 pm »
I'm apparently going senile in my old age.  HME 4.0 didn't include any of the menus for the newly supported areas (thus, they render as solid black).  Also forgot to include Lunar Compress.dll, which crashes the program when openning compressed data if you don't have it.

I've done a very minor update (4.01) to fix this.  Sorry.

I could submit the files and probably will if no one else does . . . But I will wait until I have more time.  It's after 1am and I have to be at work (for 3 hours) in the morning.

News Submissions / Utilities: SMILE 1.0 RELEASED!
« on: July 18, 2006, 12:58:27 am »

...and SABS is obsolete  :-[

Here's what's new:
1) Loads and loads of bug fixes.
2) A back up and recovery system! Each time you exit SMILE, a back up is made with just you most recent changes (to keep the files small). If an irrecoverable error happens, you can walk through the recovery system to fix it, losing only a small amount of work. How is this done?
3) IPS is now supported. You can create a patch, apply a patch, or apply an entire folder of patches! Thanks to FuSoYa, because it's his dll that's doing the bulk of the work.
4) Text editing . . . SABS handled green intro text. SMILE handles that, plus area names, bomb texts, and my own text engine (not released publically yet, but it will be).
5) Samus palette editing . . . SABS handled some of this. SMILE handles *all* of this. You can even make new fade effects! Other palettes can be edited with this as well.
6) Game properties . . . Some that were only in SABS, some that SABS never had.

I am forgetting some things, I'm sure. Just rest assured that this release is big. I've also included some small IPS patches for the public to use:
1) clearmem.ips - needed in order to make the other two work correctly
2) gravity.ips - allows you to adjust gravity in individual rooms
3) torizo.ips - allows bomb torizo to activate on any item pick-up, not just bombs... X/Y are no longer based on the hardcoded values, but rather wherever you place it in SMILE.
