Gaming Discussion / RPG Maker Games Thread
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:11:16 am »
I'm nuts for RPG Maker games again, I completely blame someone on twitter who did two lists of great rpg maker and rpg maker type games. I've also found a few fun ones he hasn't mentioned.

vgperson translates a myriad of RPG Maker etc games, I personally recommend Return of Touhou Mother and Capella's Promise although I have Faraway Story and a few others sitting on my Hard Drive.

Another fun one is Tales of the Drunken Paladin. I haven't played much lately because my computer loves to choke on maps in VX and VX Ace that have a lot of stuff but the game's pretty fun and has an interesting sense of humor.

Every single game linked to here is free to my knowledge. Paid RPG Maker games exist (lolsteam) but I find the ones I've enjoyed are totally free.

For those games you can't find anything important/what you want to learn about on GameFAQs or Google!

Does anyone have the full list of Full Upgrade Bonuses for Super Robot Wars/Taisen OE for when a unit is upgraded to 200%? Akurasu doesn't have anything on that as far as I can see.
EDIT: Found some stuff on a JP Wiki:

Gaming Discussion / Worst RPG Deserts?
« on: July 05, 2015, 08:39:44 am »
What's the worst RPG desert you've had to deal with in the world of video games? First one I can think of (and last one I remember playing) is whichever of the damn ones in Golden Sun 1 had the silly water mechanic. I think the Vesperia one might've been a pain too?

This topic came about because I was thinking to myself "damn this desert in Tales of Graces F isn't nearly as annoying as I would've expected from an RPG".

Anyone else played LISA? It's on sale half off on steam (y'all missed it being 70%) right now due to the sale.

So far, I've been really enjoying it. Just got the TNT and I'm about to work on recruiting more people because why not.

Gaming Discussion / Good non Kaizo-style SMW Hacks?
« on: March 12, 2015, 12:27:20 am »
I'd like to stock up on a few good SMW hacks that are complete without bugs and whatnot for when I lose internet access again this weekendish. Any suggestions? I prefer non-Kaizo-y hacks that are fair instead of having to savestate like a madman. Thanks in advance!

Gaming Discussion / General Strategy Game Thread

4X, RTS, SRW, TBS, all your favorite acronyms and more!

Been jonesing for some multiplayer strategy gaming lately, sadly all I really have installed at the moment is gog Alpha Centauri. I might go download my copy of Steam Civ 4 BTS this month, though, if anyone's up for it. I also have AoE II HD and the expansion but those aren't installed either.

I'm considering playing FF6 SNES again and remember there being a bevy of hacks for it. I went and checked RHDN's database and there are 69! Which ones are the most useful and more gameplay/graphics/sound-oriented rather than being about people having a cow about the translation?

Not really romhacking related so I stuck it here.

Does anyone have any idea why for the past few whenevers when I turn on throttling on VBA-M and turn off the frame limiters on ePSXe after a while the skipping gets really laggy and stops going fast? AFAIK I haven't had this problem with say, SNES9X or FCEUX. Mednafen runs faster during GBA throttling but eventually has the same problem after a while but it takes longer.

Gaming Discussion / SRW/SRT Thread
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:01:51 am »
First off, does anyone have a save for Z with Special Mode unlocked (clear save AND the system file)? Gamefaqs was no help in this regard despite claims to the contrary by the save uploader. I don't have my old Special Mode save for whatever reason.

So yeah, SRW/SRT/BIG ROBOTZ. Discuss. Announcement later this month regarding something, with Dark Prison and that battle one on the way.

Felt that a Mortal Kombat thread would be interesting in its own right more so than just a write-up on my impressions on MK9 in the Gaming Progress thread.

Never really cared for 1-3, never played 4, but I finally got around to seriously playing the PS2 games (mainly Deception and Armageddon) in the past few years and had a blast. Watched a friend play MK vs DC one time but that was meh.

After a discussion on the series and stuff with a few people I gave thought to getting Mortal Kombat 9 late last month and finally picked Komplete Edition up this week. It was only about 27 bucks because I wanted 2 day shipping and didn't have Prime. I don't regret the two-day-shipping one bit. The game is damn fun so far, enough so to make it one of my more main fighting games focus-wise like Blazblue CS Extend and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

So far I've messed around a little bit with practice mode, I've done 1/3 of story mode, and Jax's Arcade Tower/Mode on Beginner. I really like Stryker now which is hilarious because he bored me on MK3 design-wise. Jax is a blast and so is Johnny Cage as well. Not sure if I want to go so far as picking a "main" yet, though.

I'm also glad the Story mode is pretty interesting so far. Only other game I can really say anything like that is Blazblue which is somewhat hampered by inconsistent quality and the trappings of "the animus". I hear it's pretty short, which is a shame.

The game's only about 20 bucks or less, so check it out if you've got the dosh, time, and interest!

Gaming Discussion / Left 4 Dead 2 & Steam Workshop

Are there any good campaigns or mods or anything bumming around Steam Workshop I should know about/check out for L4D2?

Gaming Discussion / Stupid Super Metroid Question

Are there any good Super Metroid hacks that aren't purposefully balls-hard/constantly require HURR DURR ADVANCED TECHNIQUEZZZZ?

Gaming Discussion / The Hills Are Alive With Insanity: The Fallout Thread
« on: February 04, 2013, 03:59:30 am »
Gid's avatar/discussion off-and-on on IRC reminded me I should probably make a thread or something for those who don't bum around IRC but enjoy modding capped corgis into New Vegas (or any other modding/playing/etc).

Right now I'm trying to find the New Vegas console command for rebuilding a character/set of commands. There are some things I want to do differently but I don't want to, you know, start over.

Figure I might as well make a spinoff of that "I suck at peace walker, help me" post I made earlier today. I think a lot of my problem is that I played 2 and 3 on Easy and Peace Walker has no difficulty settings. Also, my friend carried me through the first few missions.

Also, who else is hyped for Revengeance?

Gaming Discussion / PS2 S-Video to VGA Box to Monitor Issues
« on: January 23, 2013, 08:14:57 am »
I've got my PS2 running via composite/s-video to a VGA converter box to a monitor and I'm getting these janky lines up and down the picture (text blurred). Is the cause of this the S-Video cable, the VGA box, or something else? For reference, my Wii displays just fine for whatever reason.

Newcomer's Board / Regarding Pip Glitches in Chrono Cross
« on: October 13, 2012, 05:35:47 pm »
I'm not particularly interested in fixing the glitches I've heard about regarding the character Pip in Chrono Cross, rather I'm interested in what the extent of the glitches are and what they are in the hopes that if I'm ever better-equipped to fix them I can.

All I know is there are some glitches in regard to growths on his element grid, and I think I heard once that it was because some of the information regarding him is stored in RAM rather than on a save.
