I think it looks pretty good. I like the blue platform colors.

You know there should be a hack of Contra that uses all new graphics. Change it up a bit. Maybe I'll put that on my list for 20 years from now. I'm sure people will still be playing 8-bit games then right?

Hello how are you?

People have done translations and I think much of the best NES / Famicom games have been done. I have one particular translation request that I can think of and probably more in the future. The translation requests thread here is locked saying to use the wiki but there's no way to request it.

I would like to have a English translated instruction manual for Final Fantasy 2 for NES. (The game that is already translated into English from Famicom version.)

Gaming Discussion / Re: Final Fantasy Epica hack won't save :(((

If the header is saying no battery, that's definitely wrong.  But it's an easy fix!  You just have to flip a single bit in the header.

In a hex editor, look at offset 00006

Leave the high digit of that byte alone, but change the low digit to 2.  So $10 becomes $12..... $30 would be $32, etc  (though it's almost certainly $10)
Okay that worked. Changed the value from 11 to a 12 and it's saving now and also comes up batter = Yes in view image info.

Thanks for the help!

I guess I can leave this on my list for making a hardware copy some day.

I suppose it was just an old hack and that battery value got changed for whatever reason? They probably didn't think someone would be wanting to make a hardware version of their hack seventeen years later. lol.

Gaming Discussion / Final Fantasy Epica hack won't save :(((

Hey guys. So I have this silly problem.

You know that old Final Fantasy hack FF Epica? It's one of the oldest ones from '99 or whatever. Was on Zophar domain. FF Epica 19a - same one is on this website.

Well the game won't hard save. Well it will but it doesn't work if I close the emulator. Let me explain. x.x

The rom is patched and working but if you hard save in the rom (visit an inn and save) the save goes away after closing the rom out of the emulator.

I've tried in both Nestopia and Famtasia 510 and in both the saves don't work after you re-open the emulator.

Now, if I save in the rom by visiting an inn and then reset the rom inside the emulator (without closing the emulator) it works just fine and loads up my save. But as soon as I close the emulator and re-open it again the hard save doesn't work at all.

Thing is I'm trying to make a hardware version of this game for prosperity and I need to know if it's supposed to work on hardware or not. NesMapperProgram tool comes up and says battery = No (which is wrong) and Nestopia emulator view image info says battery = no as well.

I have no idea what's going on.

What I need to know is will it work on hardware anyway? Should I try to make a hardware version and ignore emu? Or abandon all hope of making a hardware version of this gem?

Any ideas?

Castlevania Prince of Darkness sounds pretty awesome. I've never been a huge Castlevania fan but this one seems like it would definitely be worth a try.

Ye we went to the moon and never went back. I guess there wasn't much to see.

What is DQVI? Dragon Quest 6? What system is that on?

I'd like to know what are the best Final Fantasy games on SNES for whenever I decide to get into that console a couple years from now. Guess I could just go look it up on the internet. Doesn't it go FF III, IV, V & VI or something like that?

Well I don't know what hapeend but it's working now. Still said patch failed but the game works and it's in English. I have no idea what's going on.

The game looks pretty darn good. I like Sci-fi stuff so I'm a little interested in this.

Thanks a lot to the people who translated this. The readme says it was a difficult job.

Can anybody get the patch to work? I couldn't get it to work.

I used beat to apply the patch onto a rom I found on some dope website but it says patching failed. I tried the roms and the J rom works and the failed patched rom - the translated words work somewhat in the text dialogue but some of the text is ones and zeroes and the character graphics are also jumbled up in the first pink character you encounter.

I also tried the alternate dump rom from that same website. I'm probably just doing something wrong. .

Hunh! Extra areas, that's pretty sweet!

Maybe "A Legend Reborn"? Like I said, not going to make any changes right now, but I will have a finalized title by the time I post patches for the general public because I eventually plan to have a customized title screen for the game as well.

"A Legend Reborn"? That sounds just fine it's a lot better than Reconstructed in my opinion. Although if I'm gonna get a vote I would have to vote for calling it Final Fantasy Aeons. I think that sounds a little bit more epic.

I would love to help with the testing but I just don't have time for it. Got a couple of current projects I'm trying to pay some attention to. Basically learning how to do stuff like what you've done but for another game. This stuff's not easy heh.

Welp it looks magnificent.

I was wondering what are the chances of you naming the game something other than Reconstructed. You know like maybe a cooler sounding name, something like that.

Like erhh maybe Final Fantasy Ages or Final Fantasy Centuries or Final Fantasy Aeons or . .

well you get the idea  ;D

oh yea this deserves a bump. The mod author is letting people test the beta patch but you have to message him for him to send it to you.

Someone should go to his Facebook and tell him to go back to this thread. Like, someone who uses Facebook (not me, lol)

Hey, this is almost done right? Or is it still in beta testing? That Facebook page said betas are going out . .

That overworld music sounds good but seems like it's a copy of Rygar. I don't have a problem with that, I guess. Since we're copying music why don't I send you my copy of 8-bit version of The Wrist by Mushroomhead so you can use it in the dungeons  >:D

"The Wrist" - Mushroomhead (8-Bit)

or how about Solitaire/Unraveling by Mushroomhead instead?

"Solitaire/Unraveling" - Mushroomhead (8-Bit)

Oh and people were talking about changing the name. I would like to second that motion. I think this hack looks too good to call it "Reconstructed" - the final version should have a proper name - something that sounds better than Reconstructed.

Just my opinion.

How about instead of calling it Reconstructed, call it Final Fantasy: Temporia or something like that?

I think it looks pretty good.

You should put lots of enemies so the player has lots of stuff to shoot at. Put a bunch of different enemies jumping around everywhere.  >:D

Hi guys I'm uh RESQ. I guess. I like stuff. Do you like stuff? We can do stuff together.

But seriously what's up everyone. This is a pretty neat little site. Maybe I'll hang out and look at stuff. Maybe even do some stuff. heh.

Oh, I like NES. Yea. That's the stuff I like.

We're testing out the level design right now to help balance the difficulty and general playability.  After this the level design will be refined based on the feedback we receive.  After that we'll test out the game again, most likely bringing on a few additional play testers so we can get feedback on the changes (from the original play testers) and also some feedback from a new perspective unaffected by the first play through.
Awesome. I'll be glad to help if you need anything.

I'll probably be looking for a donate button when this is released. Like damnit. Shuttup and take my money.
