I found a glitch and I don't know what is causing it.

At the very end after ExDeath is defeated and the Epilogue is scrolling up.
The text jumps around causing repeats of text to show up at the bottom of the screen that is at the top.
And it keeps doing it until the screen fades out before returning to the characters in she stars.
I don't know how to explain it exactly except its like having some of the text switch to other text while scrolling up then appearing again where it should be blank.  :-\

Something weird happened when I beat the new version.

When it gets to the part where Relm and Strago are escaping Kefka's Tower in the end cut scene.
The game suddenly stops. But the music keeps playing and graphics keep moving but the screen stops with her dialogue displayed and just sits there frozen. Then after pushing the A button the dialogue proceeds as if it were a general conversation occurring in a town instead of being automatic during a cut scene.

Is there is a malfunction in the patch or is it on my end.  :)

That's a great idea. Thinking outside the box.

Thank you so much!

Works Perfect!

Has this patch been made for the American CV3 yet? Or is it still Japan only?

Looks like a Hex Value is incorrect in one of the strings.

If you want, I can take a jab at it and see if I can change the value so it matches up.  :)

I would recommend using a Name Table Viewer as well as A Hex Editor side by side.

I thought I would mention that at this point in time, Everything has been submitted to Optomon for final revisions and such. Do not worry, The project is still going as planned. I have removed the current soundtrack from You Tube as I am going to upload a brand new one later down the road after the game is complete. (Not The Stuff Sinis Uploaded, That Stuff Is Separate And Will Remain.) I am also going to release a sort of haunted song that I stumbled upon during the early programming back a couple months. It's actually not a song as much as it was an error during code editing that went terribly wrong lol. But a good bonus track for laughs or uhm probably more scares than laughs as it is pretty creepy considering it was unintentional. But I will save that for the very end.

Other than that, Everything is going well!

I am a little late coming into the thread but figured I would ask anyway,
Are there any plans for updated graphic releases of Castlevania II and III?

I finally got it to work. Did a lot of trial and error. The (!) symbol was hard to find in a Rom but at last I found one.

I'll try again, I checked and I am using Lunar. It has the Moon on the Icon.
It probably has something to do with the headered part since at the time I was patching both this one and the namingway version which requires no header. I may have gotten the originals mixed up. I'll give it another shot in a moment.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: What's the best N64 emulator?
« on: September 23, 2017, 10:56:17 pm »
Right now I am using Project 64 with the "Best" plugins that I could find.
Configuration is never fun as some games just never play no matter what I setup.
My biggest gripe is getting Castlevania 64 and Legacy Of Darkness to play perfectly. I do a lot of recordings and Castlevania is one of the best ones I have done. But to this day when I do anything with N64 regarding recordings. I break out the old system and play on the actual hardware.
The only game that seems to run the best is Zelda - Ocarina Of Time. But I do find with the more powerful Desktop builds the better Project 64 will run. But in the end most of the games will be out of sync with the music or have graphics missing or not run at all.
The other emulators that I have run are usually not much better or even worse. I am going to look into the SD Converter though I hear it's up there in price but well worth it.
The N64 is one of the few systems I still have in physical format and that pretty much says in my opinion the N64 hasn't mastered the emulation scene just yet.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Need Some Information (Final Fantasy 1-3 Nes)
« on: September 23, 2017, 07:47:25 pm »
I  have a bunch of questions regarding Final Fantasy on the Nes. In fact all three Nes Games.

Recently I have been messing with the games trying to create the Title Screen concept that is in Final Fantasy 2.
(The Translated Nice Version Custom Title Screen, Not The Original White Font Version) and put it into the First and Third Game. So they would appear prior to the prologue and by pushing start you would then see the prologue screen like in FF2.

What I am looking to get information on is where and how would I be able to get that done.
I attempted to copy and paste the code that creates the Title Screen in FF2 and it almost worked except that and I am sure this has to do with ASM. The screen I inserted appeared on top of the save slots screen and pretty much caused a mess. (By Inserting I Mean Using A Hex Editor And YY-CHR)

Now, I also expanded the Roms allowing about 256 Kilobytes of empty space to be available.
But the games prologue starts about half way down the Rom around 1000 or so. Making it impossible to find the graphics loaded at the end of the Rom that I stuck in there.

I have a feeling this is a endless journey on my end but I appreciate any information at all.

Sounds good, I do seem to have a problem getting the game to load though.
I downloaded the latest version from here and patched it to the Rom stated that would work and when I go to load it into Snes9X, It just sits with a black screen. I will try a couple more things as I am sure it's probably something on my end during the patch process. But thought I would mention it just in case.

Yep, I even took a normal 1.1 Rom and removed the header manually to see if that helped and still the hand gets lost until the smaller letters across. So I counted the clicks so I could figure out where the hand should have been and was able to rename the character. However I was not able to get the hand problem to go away.

I have a question.

I have been comparing back and forth this project and the naming way project and I am trying to figure out which version is the most definitive version of FF IV? Like I see that one focuses on translation where the other has more updated keys and stuff. So if I were to collect the absolute closest version to the definitive original. Which version is the one I should aim at?

I apologize if the question seems redundant, I just got confused trying to compare the two.

I have suggestion/idea/thingy that might be neat.

Is there a chance this translation could get a special side patch that changes Zeromus to his "Easy Type" form?
So there is both versions?

I also wanted to make note that while I was playing this version recently, I noticed that if you use the Namingway guy to change your name, The Hand Icon doesn't work on the Name Entry Screen. I didn't know if this was a glitch or something that needed addressing in the patch.

I'm still hoping for Bloodlines and Dracula X Snes support.

I know that is a completely different ball game but the day I get to fill in The Dracula Battle with those pits of death in Dracula X will be quite the accomplishment.

Personal Projects / Re: Metroidvania (Castlevania Nes Hack)
« on: September 03, 2017, 08:53:04 pm »
I have a small feeling that this project is going to inspire me to start another project.

I keep having these ideas pop in my head about making a prequel to Rogue Dawn staring Rodney Aran on Planet L-2L where he and his wife encounter an invasion by Ridley during a mining accident where an explosion took place.

Always thinking.

I have an idea for a hack, I may try to attempt this one at some point but for now it's an idea.

A Metroid Prequel to Rogue Dawn.

Here is the basic concept that I keep thinking about,

Planet Location - L-2L

Main Character - Rodney Aran

Story - Main character travels through the planet after an explosion happens during a mining session.
Rodney finally realizes that Ridley has targeted the planet and pretty much reigns hell on it.
Rodney fights Ridley but dies in battle along with Virginia Aran.

That's about the gist of the idea.
I don't know if someone is already thinking of this idea or not. But if not, I think this would be awesome!

Metroid Origins or Some cool name like that.

Wow, I actually forgot that I had begun building a Bowser Version of Mario 2 back in the day. I think it has actually been 2 years since I worked on that project.
Back then I hadn't even started the Cadence project yet. I am glad the sprite got used. Back then I didn't have the  knowledge that I have now so the project basically got put on a back burner never seeing the light of day.
I even managed to get the Underground song from Mario 3 put into it.
Who knows, Maybe some day I will try that project again.
