Personal Projects / Re: Metroid II EJRTQ Colorization
« on: February 08, 2019, 12:11:54 am »
I finally got around to trying out Metroid II and it's incredible. The environment is haunting. Where Samus landed her ship. It's cold and really dark with a feeling of isolation. The colors really brought out the felling of the game. The transitions are perfect, Nice and smooth. Even smoother than the original I believe.

I checked those out and they do look awesome. The only thing that differs is I don't think you can compile other patches for the original games on top of the Konami Collection Versions. For example speeding up the character. Also which Emulator runs these Color Hacks the best? The ones I have tried cause glitches in the backgrounds through out the games but when the you tube videos are made they seem flawless.

Update - Never mind, I just realized the speed of the game is already considerably faster with out a patch.

I wouldn't mind seeing the exact sprites of Dracula and Dracula's Monster from Rondo Of Blood directly imported into SOTN.

Pretty good graphics considering I couldn't tell at first glance if it was Nes Graphics or Snes Graphics.

It's about time that dinosaur of a romhack got an update.  :)

Now if only Super Mario Land could get the same treatment...

Not to mention The Castlevania Games. Sure they had complete versions remade on the Japanese Collections, But no one has done the original 2 games from scratch.

Can you create a way to de-equip so you can access the flame whip again later in the game?

I only have one question.

Do the transitions between areas actually fade correctly (Backgrounds don't glitch out) and does the queen battle run smooth without glitches?

Almost every color attempt has those annoying glitches, Always hoping there might be a fix someday.

If this already got asked my bad.

The clouds to me look like a Volcanic Eruption or something burning back there to cause the sky to be in smoke clouds.

But I still think this looks very awesome. I can't wait to try my hand at this game.

Here is the link to the New Custom Song in progress.

It might be used in The Underground Caverns but I am also planning on using Unholy Vespers for that stage as well.

Castlevania 3 has so many stages and inbound stages that it is going to have one large soundtrack.

The current name is Waldsturm which sounds better than Rainy Forest or quite literally Forest Storm. I like Optomon's Rainshadow so much that the name Waldsturm sounded better.

New music coming soon.

Things are looking up.

The Title Screen now says 2019.  ::)

There is also a graphic error in The Frankenstein Monster as well I believe and possibly Cyclops.
When they attack there is a blank space in their sprite just like what happened with the Axe Armor etc.

But it has been awhile and I don't remember for sure anymore.

Since the other thread is dead. I'll post this here.

It's an engine test for Metroidvania. More just to show how it works, The graphics are not final as I am thinking of a different direction possibly. The title screen is complete however and the HUD.

Here is a Carmilla Boss Test.

And here is Stage 1 nearly complete. Death looks wonderful but will be a different color in the final. Never understood Pink Death.

I'll give my idea for a backstory. I would still like to see a game made based on the events of Rodney Aran. The stuff that took place before Samus was born etc. The silhouette concept gives a feeling of being trapped under a wet blanket under the covers at night in bed. Very closed off, claustrophobic. Pretty cool though and different.

When I saws this new post and then saw Grimlock as the creator, Automatically I have no doubt this is going to be a cool game no matter how it comes out.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: How to free some ROM in FF1
« on: December 12, 2018, 09:56:02 pm »
I just want to see someone create new title screens for FF2 an FF3. FF2 had a title screen redone for it and it was nice and all but FF3 never got one and the only time you get to see the title is if you start the game over and see it during the prologue after the first battle with the Land Turtle. I'd like to see a real title screen some day. One for FF2 and FF3 that you can patch on top of any project.

This really bends me in half.

This is the second time this has happened, One time I can understand but two? Grrr!  :banghead:

Alright, No one panic, Both projects are still on and going well.

This is really going to mess things up, We had four people uploading stuff on there.

We will figure this out. Don't worry.

It better not be, I had important stuff entrusted on there!  :banghead:

I'll check it out.

New video all set.

Things are moving fairly smooth. I have run into some things that gave me a headache but the next day it came to me and things returned to normal.

I went ahead of myself a little and am very proud to say Carmilla has been installed and runs 100% custom. Way passed my expectations, I really didn't see her working due to her size. But she did and I can't wait to get to her stage and make her an actual boss and not just some enemy you can walk under and bypass like in the original game. This time shes a little harder to beat.
