Gaming Discussion / The hardest game you ever played.

The title is self-explanatory. Mine is Ghosts and Goblins, because that game can (and will) make you suffer.

To keep this thread alive, I got a new one: Dark Castle for the Macintosh.
The game itself it's pretty good, but the Genesis/Megadrive and CD-I versions of the game, as pointed out by AVGN, suck ass.
The Genesis version has bad controls (you originally aimed at enemies with the mouse), annoying music (that you could turn off, but only if absolutely no note is playing), and the CD-I version had cheesier graphics and worse controls than the genesis version (even you could get dizzy by just jumping!).

TL;DR: If you want to try Dark Castle, one point of advice: stay away for the Genesis and CD-i versions.

Welcome back Chaos Rush!
And don't worry, we all know that school keeps us all busy  :P.

It seems like nobody remembers the NES version of Ghost 'n Goblins.
Worse graphics than the arcade version, ear-rapping BGMs and SFX, some slowdown, no wonder AVGN was so pissed when he played the game.
It surprises me that it managed to get included on the NES Classic Edition....

I got a few ones:

-Final Fantasy 1 on Android: No Universal compatibility kills it for me.
-Pac-Man for the Atari 2600: Enough said on this one.
-Borderlands 2 for PS Vita: Valiant effort, but it seems the Ps Vita wasn't enough powerful to run it with bad framerate, downgraded graphics, co-op limits to 2 players only and random crashes.
-Earthworm Jim for the GBA: broken physics, Ear-raping music and sounds, swapped buttons, etc.

Title is self-explanatory, but if you want me to explain the topic, well, here is:

In this topic, you'll mention an example of a good game, and then mention it's worst version/port, complete with it's problems that make it bad.
For example: I like Sonic 1 on Megadrive/Genesis, however i don't like the GBA version, since it has slowdown, crappy music and sound effects, bad physics, etc.

Now I'd like to know your opinions about a good game and it's shitty port/version.

These are really oudated by now though.  Most can do better (especially GBA, since that was based on a PSP emulator that has better alternatives on the PSP.)

I kinda like going this way:
SNES9x EX+ (It's what is as of weeks ago the version before latest of SNES9x for free with no ads.  Bingo.)
Anything with .Emu except Neo (these cost a little bit, but it's usually well worth it and it uses nice quality emulation at the core.  Except for Neo, it's garbage.  There are much older versions for free in the store compiled by someone else, I don't typically recommend them but...)
MyBoy (crappier accuracy for GBA but it can link cable and tilt, works better on slower machines besides.  Free version has ads but the paid version costs about as much as gba.emu, blegh.)
ePSXe For Android (keep in mind, you'll be putting ISOs on your device/SD Card for this and they tend to be huge.  Still this is ePSXe's latest without any plugin fuckery outside of possibly the optional hi-res plugin.)
aFBA (a few versions off by now, but it's by far the most recent arcade thing on the platform save possibly RA.)

RetroArch also covers about everything for free, but the UI's kinda meh.  Plus the others tend to be better optimized depending on device.  Try RA first, but I didn't end up a fan.

Oh, and uh... you'll want a gamepad for anything not turn based.  Trust me.  You can wing it for a few games like maybe Sonic otherwise (ePSXe's D-Pad actually ain't all that bad), but touchscreen pads in general just can't perform well.
Ok then, thanks for the info.
But what you're talking about MyBoy has "crappy" accuracy?
Oh, and don't worry, i'm using my tablet keyboard to play emulators  :).

Thanks for the suggestions!  ;)
Currently, I'm playing FFD. It's a very good game.
As for Kemco RPGs, i stayed away from then. They lack charm.
Any suggestions about RPGs better than Kemco's?

Any interesing suggestions are welcome.

Just hope that Breath of the Wild renovates the formula......
Back on topic, I'm trying to like Final Fantasy Record Keeper, but I don't like the F2P model that it follows.
I'll just go back to play FF1 on NES.

Sorry for the capped letters, but i'm excited when i heard about the Nintendo Switch!
It is the new name for the previously know NX.
So what you you think after the reveal? I got so excited.

Anyway, Here's the link to the news on Nintendo Life:

Well I was able to get past the stage by having to hit the fast forward button for those battles. Is this present in other translations?
The ad0220 translation gave me the glitch after i patched it over a MMC5 patched rom.

Ok, i think i made my mind and decided to check Final Fantasy Restored.

Hi! Sorry for not replying back in a while, but i was busy with school.
Anyway, just a quick question: Does this "Restored" hack that Chronosplit just mentioned stays true to the original experience while giving it
a new one at the same time?
I'll be waiting patiently for a reply.
