If I were you, I'd advertise it as just an upcoming mod pack like New Threat or something like that, draws less "compromising" attention.

So I searched for FFVI restranslation patches and came across this thread and the article linked below.

What an amazing read and could serve as a basis for a proper accurate translation without loosing the Woolseyism.

I am dying to replay this game for the 10th+ time, but want a new translation to make the experience feel new. With that in mind.

How much of the text is fixed, edited,  or properly retranslated compared to say the GBA translation. Is there a comparison text?

Or am I better of modding the PC version or GBA version?

Great work by the way.

You have 3 choices, all 3 in this website.

If you want something more truer-to-the-text but keeping the flair of the Woolsey translation, get this hack.
If you want that but without the Woolsey flair but still based on Tomato's analysis, get hairy_hen's FFVI Retranslated.
Finally there's also the Revised Old Style Edition which goes for something similar but taking into account even more stuff.

This effort is necessary. If only to finally defeat the persistence of bad Final Fantasy fan translations in the mainstream fandom. It's goddamn 20 freaking 20 and I still see new videos using J2E footage.

- Can you rephrase the question? I didn't understand it, groups battle?

One of the dummied scenes found by modders takes place during the black screen immediately before the One Winged Angel.

You win the group battle against Bizarro Sephiroth, screen goes dark, you hear the cry of the Planet [Dummied: and some threatening lines appear in the black screen saying "everything ends... everything will be reborn with me!" or something like that], the music starts playing and then the final battle opens.

I thought it was kinda creepy. I like creepy stuff.

This is awesome, 3 questions:

- Is this for the PSX or PC?
- Did you unlock Sephiroth's lines right before the final boss?
- Could this be combined with the retranslation/canon addendum/whatever script editing?

There's a new Pokemon beta leak going on right now. Stuff that mankind wasn't mean to ever see, deeper than the Spaceworld demo.

The romhacks will come.

The original is a treasure to be preserved. I see the relationship between it and Remake as the book and the movie, or the manga and the anime. One does not replace the other. And the meta nature of Remake NEEDS the original to exist. I think people were too eager to replace the original game with the remake.

It's like the Evangelion movies playing off the original series. (I could dedicate a whole wall of text to FF7-Evangelion equivalences and similarities but that doesn't belong here)

By the way, has anybody ever wanted to restore the Sephiroth lines right between the final bosses?

Are there purists that care about the naming order?

The naming order not matching the battle order has been one of my major pet peeves with the NES version. Doo Eet!

Underrated? Surely you jest.

Spanish script should use the names ACTUALLY used in the spanish dubs (Euro or Latin, your pick I guess...)

Super Mario Kart 2nd Mix? 2nd Tour? 2nd GP?

Pro, Turbo, Champion or Power instead of 2nd?

Mix and match, I guess.

X1X2X3X4-ing the X6 names would contradict the fandom-consensus de-GNRification of the X5 names back into the Japanese names. Let's face it, the "standard adjective+animal naming" died with X5.

And we got stuff like Boomer Kuwanger in goddamn X1 so... well, fug :DDD

Let's not start the purist circlejerk.

In my experience, it's the Vosotros speak that might prove more alienating to non-Euro players, but that's just me.

So it's European Spanish based?

Also take into account that FF2j has a completely different distribution of the boss theme than the remakes. The boss theme is used for the first time against Behemoth, and then here and there including the final boss and EXCLUDING the Human Mateus fight.

The remakes use only Battle Scene B as the only boss theme at first, then Battle Scene A is used for the first time against Lamia Queen, then it depends on the boss (the very next boss, Behemoth, uses type B)
