W-RAM <> S-RAM Map mapping is successfully done. Thanks to phonymike.

It's now possible to do S-RAM comparison from savestates WHILE you're playing. That's so cool.

S-RAM comparer now has a filewatcher included.

1) In your Emulator, map create-savestate function to a button of your controller or keyboard
2) Run S-RAM Comparer with filewatcher enabled and path to your savestate file
3) Play SoE and press your save button everytime you want to compare a change in S-RAM.
4) S-RAM Comparer does the comparison automatically and optionally exports the results. After each comparison the comp-file will be overwritten (default, but configurable)

We're currently trying to map the (W)RAM map to SRAM.

If someone already done stuff like this (for other games), your help/knowledge would be appreciated.

(Also, some points about the game's checksum usage would be nice to hear about before I make any real progress.)

What do you mean by that? I know a bit about it.

Evermore Format Exploration Project

greetings Secret Of Evermore fan,

a project has been created to decipher the SRAM format of SoE as completely as possible. Currently about 54% are still unknown.
A must to create a full capable savegame editor.

Community help is required for this project. The more people participate, the faster and more accurate the results.

For this purpose, an open source tool for comparing SRAM (* .srm) files was developed.

If someone is interested in participating in the project, they can find out more on the project page .

Thank you for your support. <3

Some experiences with the patch:

- Replacing PixieDust with Wings allows abusage of wings-unvulnerability glitch in first act. This glitch has not been fixed yet. Players can beat any enemy without getting hit at all. Imo not a good thing.
- Increasing ingredient amount for spells is great - very liked it.
- Decreasing earned money for killed enemies makes grinding more necessary. imo a good thing.
- Increasing magic def for bone buzzards makes pyramid and chessboard a pain in the ass. Although it increased difficulty, I didn't like it because of its pure nastiness.
- Incompatible with 2-player patch
- More balanced money/exp rewards

My other notes are temporarily lost (I might add them after they've been found)

It's _impossible_ to make a patch which fits everyone's needs. Some players want the game to be easier, some the opposite. There's no way to find a compromise for everyone. After playing the game lots of times since 1995 I like the game to be hard as hell, so for me this patch is still too easy, but it had many surprisingly good moments.

"Unfortunately there's a major bug: Just when Metal Magmar appears and stands up in the middle of the room, the background goes white and the game assumes you've won the entire fight."

Confirmed. No Chance to fight against Metal Magmar or Carltron. some seconds after metal magmar appears, cartron appears and then some seconds later the fight is over.

I loaded a savestate again and again to proof that.

I used two Player hack and Balance patch.

As i never saw this with 2 Player hack,  ist very likely that it's a result or incompatibility of Balance patch with other patches.

Beside this bug,
- is it possible to prevent wings glitch for invulnerability?
- is it possible to make callbead 8x trick ineffective like you did with Magic spells?
by the way, Energize enables at least 4x trick for Magic spells, as the 100% progressbar is complete within 1 second.
