For those of you familiar with DarkPrinceAlucard's Genya Arikado Hack for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (link below), I will be doing a similar "what if" scenario involving Julius coming to the Castle and attempting to regain his memories and defeat Graham (I know you technically do that in Julius Mode, but I wanted more depth). I'm nearly done, I just have to decide on what route I want to take the story. I want to keep it as close to believable canon as possible, while having it retain its own feel. Thanks to LagoLunatic's DSvania Editor (link below), editing certain aspects were much easier than hunting for bytes in a hex editor or going through tile molester and other miscellaneous programs.
Juliua will have the same food and armor/accessory items that Soma finds (with a few custom ones for him, of course). However, the only weapons he will receive will be different elemental whips (fire, ice, thunder etc...) until he recovers the Vampire Killer and his memories. Monsters will not drop their souls. THe only exception to this will be bosses who will drop a soul that will show in the "Abilities" section, and will unlock other areas of the Castle. Certain areas will not be accessible until certain bosses are killed. Speaking of Souls, Guardian Souls do not work for Julius since he has his Omnia Vanitas dash at all times. Enchanted souls boost stats, but they have been removed as well. The only "Souls" he will have access to will be his standard subweapons that are scattered throughout the castle in soul stands. He will also have amplified versions of each of these weapons as well. Keep a lookout for them!
There are a few things that are unavoidable and glitchy, since the game still thinks you're Soma. A few that come to mind are as follows:
Bosses that have a certain animation when you enter the room (Headhunter, Legion, Death, Balore) will sometimes randomly not spawn and you will be locked in the room. To fix this, ALWAYS save before you fight a boss and just reset if it happens.
If you reset, you will be at Level 1. There is no way around this. Weapons and Items have had their stats edited to compensate for this. So, not a big deal.
If the succubus enemy catches you mid dash, the game will freeze.
And finally, when the patch is available, don't use a previous save file, or there will be game breaking bugs. You must use a new one.

Check out Nameless FireRed Project.  It takes the absurd idea of stuffing a ton more Pokemon than warranted into vanilla Kanto and makes it work.  Keep in mind that things like Pokedex entries are still WIP and there are a couple bugs (and it's kinda been a year since the last update apparently... but it's all very playable.)

Also Pokemon Sweet Version and it's sequel.  They have their bugs but the concept is pretty well realized.
He does update the page here, but I haven't much of a clue what the latest is.  Latest patch wherever I see it is February.

I'll definitely check these out. I'm still a huge fan of Ultra Violet as well.

Currently playing Pokemon Rocket Science, Rocket Edition and Gary's Mod. These are all mods for Fire Red for GBA and I am loving them. Rocket Science is the only completed one, so I have to wait for updates on the other two, but any game where you can steal other trainer's pokemon and use them is a winner. The stories are refreshingly original as well. Having a bit of an issue transferring the save file (not save states) between My Boy app on android and VBA on my windows pc tho. Oh well, still having a great time! Anyone interested in these should definitely look into them!

Gotcha. I wouldn't know what pokemon editor to use. I also wouldn't know what values to change in the hex editor. I would probably just change the stat boost for Protein. Aren't there berries that can be held to raise attack power, or is that only in battle?

Hey, everyone. I've been playing (and loving) the Pokemon Ultra Violet hack, and I only have one pokemon left to get: Huntail, an evolution of Clamperl. I see in the guide that it will evolve at level 20 if its attack is higher than its defense, but I can't get the attack higher. I feed it protein until they have no effect, and the defense is still higher. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to breed a bunch of them if I can help it... Thanks much!

Just a question regarding Dracula's reincarnation in Aria/Dawn of Sorrow. If they are going from a Buddhistic principle, I would assume that Soma would have Dracula's soul, but not have access to all his memories? If some souls are strong enough, i know they can be split and inhabit more than one person. However in Dawn of Sorrow, Dmitrii mentioned touching his soul and scanning his past lives. Just trying to get clarification since I'm writing a story for a Dawn of Sorrow sequel dealing with Soma regaining control after the bad ending in Dawn of Sorrow when he is defeated in Julius mode.

Hello all, my update for the Aria of Sorrow hack, Call of Chaos has been updated. There have been custom weapons added, the story has been changed, weapon and enemy stats have been altered as well as Item locations in game. Special thanks to DarkPrinceAlucard for all of his help and allowing me to use a few sprites and portraits. Here is the link. Enjoy! Working on Reaper's Reckoning now.

Ah! I've heard good things about this utility, but haven't downloaded it yet. Will definitely look into it when I get off work. I'm currently tweaking some of my AOS hacks and any time saver I can get is appreciated. So you can change enemy placement, but not add duplicates then? I'm looking forward to using this!

Hello all. I wanted to know how to place enemies in specific locations. I already know how to, and have made a guide, on how to edit item placement, but I have no idea how to change enemy placement. Specifically, I want to place Julius in the battle arena to fight him after the dialogue after you fight Balore. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

if i'm not wrong Alucard and someone else spoke archaic english in SOTN, what about that?

Alucard and Dracula did. I went out of my way when writing the story to stay away from contractions. I also only had limited space when writing the story, so I had to get to the point. Lol. The story serves as a sequel to sotn (including the radio drama) and a prequel to set up Order of Ecclessia.

Just posted two guides for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
One shows the specific Item Locations in the game. All you need is a hex editor to change any item to any place you want. The second guide is for enemy and equipment stats. You can change everything from enemy HP, ATK, DEF, EXP, Tolerance, Weakness and so on. Weapons can have their stats and elemental damage changed as well. These are my first in depth guides, so they may be a bit scattered. Sorry for that. Any way, hope someone finds this as helpful as I did.

Hello all,

Could anyone give a rundown of how to "split" (I guess) a palette that is shared between two weapons and give them each a distinct palette? Specifically, in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, the Balmung Sword shares a palette with the Claimh Solais and a few other weapons. I want the Balmung to have specific colors the other weapons do not. I have tile molester, a hex editor, tile layer pro, yy-chr (my preference). I see the weapons in yy-chr and the palettes are different locations, I just don't know how to separate them. Sorry for the rambling, but that's pretty much it. Thanks much!

Good call! Too bad Maria isn't in this game... I never was able to get the Chaos entry. I did chamge "beam skeleton" to "Nova Skeleton" and "Biphron" to "Lossoth".

@Camino - Good luck finding the string of text you're looking for! I'm thinking what you changed might be the name used during dialogue scenes or something.
