Hey, everyone. I've been playing (and loving) the Pokemon Ultra Violet hack, and I only have one pokemon left to get: Huntail, an evolution of Clamperl. I see in the guide that it will evolve at level 20 if its attack is higher than its defense, but I can't get the attack higher. I feed it protein until they have no effect, and the defense is still higher. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to breed a bunch of them if I can help it... Thanks much!

Just a question regarding Dracula's reincarnation in Aria/Dawn of Sorrow. If they are going from a Buddhistic principle, I would assume that Soma would have Dracula's soul, but not have access to all his memories? If some souls are strong enough, i know they can be split and inhabit more than one person. However in Dawn of Sorrow, Dmitrii mentioned touching his soul and scanning his past lives. Just trying to get clarification since I'm writing a story for a Dawn of Sorrow sequel dealing with Soma regaining control after the bad ending in Dawn of Sorrow when he is defeated in Julius mode.

Hello all, my update for the Aria of Sorrow hack, Call of Chaos has been updated. There have been custom weapons added, the story has been changed, weapon and enemy stats have been altered as well as Item locations in game. Special thanks to DarkPrinceAlucard for all of his help and allowing me to use a few sprites and portraits. Here is the link. Enjoy! Working on Reaper's Reckoning now.

Hello all. I wanted to know how to place enemies in specific locations. I already know how to, and have made a guide, on how to edit item placement, but I have no idea how to change enemy placement. Specifically, I want to place Julius in the battle arena to fight him after the dialogue after you fight Balore. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Just posted two guides for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
One shows the specific Item Locations in the game. All you need is a hex editor to change any item to any place you want. The second guide is for enemy and equipment stats. You can change everything from enemy HP, ATK, DEF, EXP, Tolerance, Weakness and so on. Weapons can have their stats and elemental damage changed as well. These are my first in depth guides, so they may be a bit scattered. Sorry for that. Any way, hope someone finds this as helpful as I did.

Hello all,

Could anyone give a rundown of how to "split" (I guess) a palette that is shared between two weapons and give them each a distinct palette? Specifically, in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, the Balmung Sword shares a palette with the Claimh Solais and a few other weapons. I want the Balmung to have specific colors the other weapons do not. I have tile molester, a hex editor, tile layer pro, yy-chr (my preference). I see the weapons in yy-chr and the palettes are different locations, I just don't know how to separate them. Sorry for the rambling, but that's pretty much it. Thanks much!

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could (if it is even doable) be able to replace the character portraits in AOS with another portrait? Like something from SOTN, maybe? I've looked in Tile Molester, Tile Layer Pro, and other graphics editors, and i can't find where they are stored. Any thoughts, insights? My spoof has me changing the character's names and editing their sprites a bit, but no matter what the sprites look like, when the portrait comes up looking nothing like the sprite when I'm done, it sort of defeats the purpose...

Good day, all! I hope I'm on the right board. I've read the getting started documents, and all, I've posted a couple of hacks, but I finally have a bit of time to try to adjust damage in my hacks.
Specifically, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for GBA. I have HxD Hex editor along with tile molester, APE ect...I'm using  Visual Boy Advance as my emulator. Just wondering if someone could give me an example of a situation or what exactly I would modify in a string of code to increase the damage (in this case) that enemies do? Perhaps change the attributes to certain weapons (Dark, Fire, Holy ect.)?

I have finally finished all I am able to do with my Aria of Sorrow spoofs. The descriptions in the links pretty much says it all, but just to summarize, the story and dialogue has been changed for each back story. The text is now more even with the dialogue boxes and less scattered. The Reaper's Reckoning one was especially meticulous, since I basically recolored nearly all the bullet and guardian souls to fit the main character (Death/the Reaper). I also changed the warp room textures as well as the battle with Graham. There are a few weapon descriptions that have been changed that fans of DMC will recognize (I apologize in advance for any blasphemy). Be sure to get all the endings and enjoy! btw, here are the codebreaker codes for weapons so you can have all of Dracul's/Death's equipment from the beginning. This is an update for my Call of Chaos and Reaper's Reckoning Aria of Sorrow spoofs.
I have updated the dialogue and changed some more sprites. I have just submitted them, so they should be available soon. Enjoy!

This one is for all of you Metroidvania fans out there. It took forever, but I've finally managed to make two complete spoofs of Aria of Sorrow.

The gameplay remains the same, but the story has been completely rewritten and the characters renamed and their sprites recolored to suit them.

The first story involves Dracula reclaiming his own power from someone special. Also, Dracula and Carmilla (Mina) have more of an open love story (no more of that "childhood friend" nonsense from the original...)
The second has Death being summoned to the Castle to locate Dracula's power and return it to him before he is resurrected. There is less dialogue in both compared to the original game, but the story gets more to the point.

I'm currently wanting to rewrite the script for Castlevania Aria of Sorrow to make it a bit more fresh. I'm reading the getting started and all the documents involving hex and table generating since I haven't dove into text editing yet. As of now, I've only done some palette color changes. I do have a few questions that I haven't found answers to yet:

1. I would imagine that every game is specific on where the dialogue is located and how it is stored. How difficult would it be to locate the starting and ending points of the dialogue and extract it?

2. Assuming I can even locate it and dump it, I know I only have a limited amount of space available to change the script. Do I have to keep it down to the letter to occupy the same space on the rom, or do i have a little wiggle room if I wanted to add more dialogue?

3. Lastly, I want to remove the character portraits from the dialogue boxes when they are speaking. How would I go about that?

Anyone with advice or experience, I would greatly welcome it!

Currently trying to remove the character pictures that go along with character dialogue. That would fall under graphic editing, yes? I figured that would be my best bet since there isn't a "transparent hex" color. I eventually want to rewrite the script as well but that's a topic for another day. Any suggestions regarding the picture removal? Thanks much!

If I get around to it, I'd like to rewrite the script in Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance. I'm not trying to change the order of any of the conversations, I just want to change the dialogue itself. How much of a headache would that be? Any suggestions?

What is the 4 digit hex code for a transparent palette? Does that make sense? I'm trying to take away an outline on a sprite. Thanks! I'm also having so much trouble locating a specific palette with this outline. I've edited sprite after sprite with no trouble, but this one is a pain to find! When I finally find it, I'll be able to remove it!
