ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: World Soccer Jikkyou Winning Eleven 3

Isn't this just Pro Evolution Soccer except re-titled for Asia or is there something different about it.

Sad to say, I have stopped working on this over a month ago. Mainly due to my translator being busy and myself meanwhile moving onto another game, anyway I uploaded what I have done and you can download it here. Have fun and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.

For more info, you can read the post on my blog.

Sure, that'll be great. I'll explain in the pm.

Yea I have a translator but he's currently busy, I can do it myself but it's not the best quality. Anyhow im gonna try opening the game with crystal tile 2 and try to see if the Japanese text loads. That's how I'm finding the text in a DS game I'm translating, no need for string searches or anything like that. I know how to implement a translation but have little to no knowledge of hacking, I edit from ISOs directly.

Interesting, I want to eventually translate the Saikano PS2 game in the future but am unsure on how to do so. With a dissaembler, could you get the games Graphics or stuff like that. It's good to see someone with experience on PS2 hacking, the games is mostly .DAT files and a long time ago I tried to figure out how to open them but failed.

I edit from the iso themselves but very few people do this, I find it much easier as it cuts out some of the busy work. Most people want to be safe and don't do that but it's your choice, I only have to start a new game to get the edits to appear so that's handy enough for me. What game are you looking into hacking anyway.

I suggest you fix the topic title to disambiguate it with the PC or DC version since its for the DS version.

Or since this a merged topics for NGE games, maybe change it to "Neon Genesis Evangelion Game Translations" or something.

EDIT: Also, I think there is no character limit on the topic thread title.

I don't understand why you said that since it already says DS in the topic title, also I wouldn't have mentioned the title limit if I didn't already try. Notice the how many times read at the top, see how it's sort of cut off. I will create a projects page when I move onto a new project and have a sub category for Evangelion games since I can only have one more topic page with this being my third.

Couldn't fit the entire title in the topic, it's really long. It's simpler to just call it Ayanami Raising Project (DS) and yea I know Asuka's in this game too but damn these incredibly long title restrictions.

Don't worry, next project I'll make a single thread for all of my translations. I don't understand why I shouldn't be allowed separate ones as it's not like im gonna bump all 4 at the same time. Anyhow here's a progress update.

Progress Update - 30/5/14
Making my way through the story recently, taking down the first three Angel's and a bunch of other stuff. I enjoyed the scene where Rei goes on a school trip and you have to make her lunch, you have three options.  A Tomato omelet, fried chicken with onion rings (Seriously) or salted salmon with french fries,  I had a good laugh at the fried chicken option. That's clearly in there for a joke, you can't really picture Rei chowing down on KFC. The right answer is the tomato omelet because Rei doesn't eat meat or fish.

3rd - 5th Angel's
More shop items
Park Events
Some minor events
Misc stuff

I encountered Toji "The Bastard" in the park heading to the hospital to visit his sister, him and alot more people. You  can meet Maya and she asks you about a rumor that Lieutenant and Rei are you know..... doing the nasty. Misato also makes suggestive remarks about Lieutenant and Rei, there's alot of that going around in this game. Events from the show do happen such as Rei getting her new Nerv ID card, there are three people who can give her it. Shinji, Gendo or Lieutenant, Gendo delivered it when I played. I wonder if you can snap Shinji's fingers if he does before he does you know what, now that would be awesome.
God I hate this guy
Anyhow all this has been translated so progress is being made, slowly but surely I will get there. Thanks for reading and I hope you guys give me your support.

Now don't get your panties in a bunch over this one, I know that having two topics for the same translation for the same game on two different platforms isn't exactly right. I just think it's better and easier to categorize than having one topic, anyway I plan to translate the Dreamcast version of the Ayanami Raising Project after the DS. It will be much faster that way so you Dreamcast fans will have something new to play in the future. There are a few initial problems I will have to fix but I'll get around to those when I start implementing the translation. The Dreamcast port is not the same as the DS, it's more of a direct port from the PC without Asuka since she was added in the PS2 version. I also want to do this version as I can play it on my big tv with my Dreamcast rather than through a DS emulator. I hope some people will be interested in a Dreamcast translation so thanks for reading and wish me good luck.
Kawai desu.

28th May
Here's a video of what I implemented as a test, enjoy.

Thanks for the offer, glad to see people are interested.

Yea that's going to be a problem, when I get the text translated I'll see what I can fit in or reword it so it makes sense but I don't really know.

I have been working hard on this translation for the past week, getting through a ton of text is really taking it's toll. Below is a short list of what I have been working through recently, I wanted to get through the training options before heading into the story so I haven't played more than 2 weeks ingame. I played through each training option once and translated most of those, around 12 out of  the initial 15 training options are done.

*Introduction Scene
*Training Options
*Entering and exiting text's for shops
*All of the items in the first clothing shop

This may not sound like much but all of this was slightly over 500 images of text, next I'll play the game some more progressing into the story and translate the items available to buy in the shops. I also recorded two video's so check them out, thanks for reading and I hope you support me.

Beach Time
Thrill World

Yea, I don't really mind as long as it's readable.

Your gonna want to build a table for the game so you can find the text, start off by finding english text in the game and do a relative search for that. There should be some english on the title screen, get the hex's for those and use that offset to change the hex's and build an entire table of both english and japanese. You then just get the hex's for the japanese text on screen, put that into a hex editor and it should come up the offset.

Maybe eventually but not at the moment, just wondering. If you edit the spaces through assembly hacking would that just move all the games text closer or would it mess up a translation if I did it in the middle of one.

Any update on recent progress, also how about answering back to me pm's at least.
