That's good to hear, and I hope you soon find a translator to get some work done. Too bad about the overall progress, got an estimate on how much was done, just throw out a percentage or fraction if you know.

Well I ran into a little snag recently, I created a table and was all set to go. The main menu texts could be changed but when I tried to find the first text screen in the game, it didn't work, probably because text outside the main menu is compressed somehow. I then sent a message to YBZ and he found the game file the text was in, uncompressed it and sent me the file. That was a day or two ago but I'll have a look at it later on and try to find the text, hopefully I will or the translation will be at a standstill. That's what has happened recently, and it's good to know people are interested.

I thought as much but if the projects dead in the water, then possibly you guys could release what's done and the tools you used. That would be great as I'd like to see how much of the game you actually got translated, as I really hate it when things get cancelled and nothing is released. Anyhow, too bad but I don't blame you if you lost interest because its not like you didn't do anything, a lot must have been done over the years so give yourself a pat on the back. You deserve it.

My new translation and again I'm working with Kiiri from moddb, the game is El Dorado Gate on the Dreamcast. I started a topic on theisozone and from that, got help from YBZ who found me a starting hex and then I gathered the hex's and managed to make some changes. That being said, I can only work as fast as my translator does his thing which is really slow. He used to be much faster but this is a side project so I really don't mind.

Yea, he's right but a lot of those screens are already jampacked full of text and even if someone edited the text pointers or whatnot, the overall space would only be extended by a small amount, so don't be bothered by it that much. That set aside, you have given us the text and a table to work off so it wouldn't be hard for someone to do something with it. Thanks for that, it will give us something to start with.

How did you manage to extract the text anyhow, did you gather the characters yourself and put them into a document or was it something else. Also about the ベ and ペ , some games use additional hex's rather than another tile, that could be the case here.

9X5E = ベ

I will have a look at the game though, I wonder if it goes in color using a gameboy color, some GB games do.

I'm interested in translating El Dorado Gate but the text is compressed or encrypted in a way, guys on theisozone said they had no luck when they tried but maybe someone here may know. Just checking though, no matter now unlikely. Im guessing the text is in the scene folders and files, they are in tlp format if that means anything. Hacking and stuff isn't my strong suit and I know asking isn't going to get me much anywhere but I like to keep my hopes up. Can someone help me out here.

That sounds pretty terrible, don't know what I would do if it happened to me. But did you lose everything, even all translated text that wasn't implemented? Either way, I wish you luck. Not everybody would continue after losing their work.

Guys like romance too, but that game is not for me seeing how I'm a dude. Anyhow it's always good to see games being translated into other languages such as that Resident Evil one into Arabic. Always outs a smile on my face.

What about the PSP port, games on that platform are much easier to translate so it might be a better option to look into that version. Its also the same game so there might not be much different with it.
