My friend who is helping me translate couldn't really make out what this said properly, he is Japanese but probably had trouble conveying it in English.

on the way -- three persons who wavered in "the world of the picture" which Theguard drew

Yea that is way off, any help.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Getting Bitmap Text From Image

How would I go about getting the text from these bitmap type text, I put this image through an online ocr but the text came out half wrong so any help would be appreciated. Yea I know ive been doing this alot recently but I've gave up on ps1 and ps2 translations so I want to give these older games a try. I would try to look for the individual characters myself but I can't really make out these out and I would probably pick the wrong ones.

I don't think ps1 games and forward would be the best place to start hacking so im gonna try some retro game and would like some help. What tools would I need to hack just say a gameboy/ sega gamegear rom, I would like to translate a few as a starting point.

Ok I found the text to replace, replaced it with english text with mad edit. CDmage to open the games disc and found the file to replace with my edited one, right clicked and selected import file, picked the edited one and replaced it, then closed the program after that. Was there something I didn't do as when I loaded the game the text was still in japanese even though I changed it, I really hope you guys can help me out on this one.

Newcomer's Board / Fist of the North Star PS1 Game Translation Progress

I want to translate this fist of the north star game, I changed a line or two of the game but have no clue where it was but the game loaded correctly so it must have worked. I want to test out this line being changed to see if it will appear so please help me out.

Can anyone get me the characters for this line right here, im having trouble looking for some of the characters. Im not gonna do this for the text if you were wondering but just want to try and see if this works, I got the text for a part or two in the options and searched for the text but no hits so im guessing some of it must be hardcoded.

ROM Hacking Discussion / What program to use to replace files on a CD

I tried using CD image but that doesn't work right, all I want to do is replace a file on a disc with my edited one to see if what I changed works. Any one that people have experience with and know that works. I can't use power iso as that re compresses the disc and makes it smaller by 90mb and that makes the game not load at all so please help me out here.

Is this displaying right because I don't know, I set Japanese on my pc and that other stuff but what exactly am I looking at. Have people done any tutorials on this stuff before because people should share the know how.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Japanese PS2 Games Dat Files

I want to open a dat file for a japanese ps2 game but I can't seem to do it, I have searched the internet and didn't find any help other than use xpert 2 but I used that and that didn't work. That extracted the files from the disc which were dat files and more but the dat file themselves weren't opened even when I used a bunch of plugins that you get with xpert 2. I want to open the dat files so then I can fiddle around with the text and see what I can do, I really need help on this.
