I agree. Still a little early in the game but noticed a couple minor issues so far. I had a small bug with a text box in the first shop similar to the one FallenAngel mentioned (that might actually be the one I'm thinking of actually), and I noticed a typo during the food delivery mission where the chef sais "I need to you to help me" where it should have been "I need for you to help me".

It's a shame you guys didn't get to touch bases prior to tryphon starting work on the translation, but I'd like to think his work doesn't have to be for nothing. If the two of you jump on this together, you could polish it up to top notch work and maybe implement the VWF tryphon was working on. Things like faster scrolling text or maybe a text skip feature would be a nice touch. The text speed right now really slows down the pace of the game.

Anyway, super stoked this has finally been released after all these years and looking forward to playing through the rest of the game. And if there's a way to make this translation even better, I'm all for it!

Fear not, it is far from forgotten. I think CyberWarriorX is in the middle of a busy season at his job, so there hasn't been much progress. I don't know a lot about what remains to be done on the hacking side, but I think that once the menu and VWF work, we'll be mostly done. Remember, I was able to play-test the entire game, fully translated and on a real Saturn, but with no menu and only a FWF.

What's your schedule been like lately? Are you busy yourself these days? I'm still very interested in completing that English manual we started working on together. I'm pretty sure I'm caught up with the pages you translated so far, so even if its just a page here and there I can keep going. Slow progress is still progress! ;)

Let me know, thanks!

Don't give in to the imperialist Murricans  :police:

Actually, I'm Canadian! ;D

Oh and I prefer Mega Drive myself, but you could do like MIJET and add an option to use either on boot up if it's not too much work.

That's not a bad idea! Or even just a separate patch. One labeled MegaDrive and one labeled Genesis.

Not really related to grammar or bug fixes, but what about swapping out the "MEGADRIVE" for "GENESIS" to better match the American-styled translation? Just a minor adjustment I thought would be a nice touch.

Since I am now done with Infidelity's Zelda Project, I am now thinking on to give your game texture wise, a complete overhaul. I am not sure yet though.

Here a mook-up I made months ago, but decided to withold it until now that is.

To Note: The lava tiles were originally made by me for the Megaman Odyssey Project.

I would absolutely love to see you overhaul Shadow of Night with these updated graphics. That custom Link sprite look beautiful!

Maybe a definitive final release can be polished and put together with your new graphics, as well as some additional tweaks here and there such as giving better clues to where some of the harder to find items are hidden.

Looking forward to finding out if this happens or not!

Well, it's a little disappointing to hear you'll no longer have any free time to continue on with this translation. But hey, that's life!

But with a 100% translation inserted, it looks like you've done a lot of the ground work and all that's needed to be done is shine everything up to a polish to wrap things up! Can't thank you enough for everything you've done on this over the years! Still really want to see this project finally completed, and now were that much closer!

Hopefully there's someone out there with the knowledge and interest to get it all completed.

Yup, he's been working a new job the last several months. I still exchange emails with him from time to time. I'll have to email him again and see what's up.

Thanks! I'd appreciate that!

I'm assuming SamIAm has been pretty tied up lately? He sent over a few translated pages from the original manual for the English US Style Saturn Case & Manual design I was building for you guys, but I haven't heard from him in a couple months. I'm all caught up with the pages he sent over so far, so my progress is pretty much at a complete stand still at this point. Still very much looking forward to completing that project for you guys!

Anyway, awesome to hear some progress on the technical side of things. Ironing out all the kinks should help boost translation progress in the future! Keep it up!

This looks great. Looks like your putting a lot of effort into making this look like a new game rather than just a level hack of Darkwing Duck 1. Looking forward to seeing more!

I've always wanted to see this game get a completed translation, but so far attempts have only faded away...

Best of luck and hope to see some good progress on this!

I'd be happy to help with that. I can't scan the manual, but I do have my own copy, and I'm in a good position to keep things consistent with the main translation. :)

For now, though, I'm pretty busy with play-testing. I've got about 40% of it done with plenty of tweaks and fixes added along the way, and I'll probably have to go through the whole thing one additional time to make sure there are no issues. There's also getting the menu to work, ironing out some bugs, and editing text that is stored as graphics (such as the entrance names).

Right on! I was actually going to see if you would be willing to translate the manual for me to make sure everything is consistent with your translation. Thinking of just picking up a copy of Princess Crown for myself (I would like to own a copy). So when I grab a copy Ill just scan everything myself if I have to. I prefer to remove the staples from manuals anyway to scan the pages as flat as possible and then put it back together afterwards. Something I'm sure others may not be comfortable with.

But absolutely, the game translation should be priority. Ill do what I can until you have some free time. I already have a start with manual cover finished. And the template is all set up for the case insert. Just going to need a little more art resources to finish it up which I should get from the manual scans. And Ill need screenshots as well, so if you can provide some when the translation is finished that would help. I suppose I can always take them myself when I recapture all the screens for the manual. Here's what I have for the cover art so far if you want to see what I'm going for:

I actually own a copy of Virtual Hydlide for the Saturn which was also released by Atlus, so I'm basing the template design off of that since it's most likely what it would have resembled had it actually been released.

Anyway, really happy you've expressed interest in my project. I'll keep in touch with updates!

Wow really looking forward to this! Only found out about this game after reading through the Dragon's Crown Art Book the other day, and was totally surprised to see a English translation is already in the works! I'm starting to turn into a die hard Vanillaware fan and I can't wait to try this! My Saturn is starting to get pretty dusty...

Anyway, I'm wondering if there's anyone here with a complete copy of Princess Crown (maybe Zoel?) that wouldn't mind scanning the case insert and manual at 600 dpi? (no filters) I'd love to create a high quality, print ready, full English CIB packaging for original US Saturn cases that people can print out if desired. Which could maybe be included with the patch as a cool extra if interested!

Id like to create the manual based on a translation of the original Japanese manual scans, which I would later format to fit the layout of US Saturn manuals. If anyone would be interested in helping out by maybe translating the manual (if good scans can be found) that would be awesome. Otherwise, I may have to track down a translator. Everything will be saved at high quality and the manual will be in a print ready pdf format.

If anyone is interested and can help, please let me know. I'd really like to make this happen! Thanks!
