ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Snes : Mariokart + street fighter ...

Dang man, you just blew my mind with all that info. I don't blame you after hearing all that, cause that sounds insanely complicated, and way too much burden for one person. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. Maybe someday someone who knows how to do it easily will take it upon themselves and do it for you, or show you how. Either way, thanks again, cause it really is amazing as is and I'm glad you made it.

Thanks for IPS man, much appreciated. This is a great hack, and even if it was just a sprite swap (but isn't), would still be a lot of fun just to be able to cruise around as the SF crew. One huge improvement to this hack in my opinion, would be if you guys could add the SF2 soundtrack in place of the original music. That would pretty much top it off all around. Anyway, thanks again for this, it's one of those rare releases that is just frickin awesome, and at least to me, out of nowhere.

I apologize for bringing up an old topic, even if the game is great, but I'm having a hard time getting this rom to run properly and was curious if anyone knew why. Whenever I load the game, as the blackness is circling out of the title screen, the whole screen then goes black, and if I don't hit any buttons it will start to loop the gameover screen, but if I do hit a button, it will load the title screen with the games a-c, but everything is black and white. I only know it's one that screen because of the shapes of the colors form the same layouts. Anyways, if I start a game from that point it will run fine, so far. I was just curious if anyone has any idea why this may be happening? I know I'm using a clean SMW rom, and I've also downloaded a prepatched version, and it has the same error. Using ZSNES by the way. I've also patched roms with the other Lost Adventure hacks including the just released Luigi Edition, and they all work great.

Am I supposed to use the two patches in a particular order, like Translation then the hack, or vice versa?
It wasn't working for me before and now is, but I'm using NestopiaX on Xbox. You don't have patch the rom in a particular order though, just pick a patch that you want to use. If I understand correctly, the english patch is by Lindblum and is an english patch for the originally created FF7 nes game, and the other one is by Lugia2009 which is the new and improved one. If it still is not working for you, I would either try a different emulator, try a different original rom, or try reinstalling the emulator you are using if possible.

Good news!  I uploaded a new patch to the RHDN database that changes the magic names, item descriptions, and an issue I found with 7 of the optional bosses in the game.

AND best of all! Dizzy9 has sent me a patch that not only adds damage animations to the battle system, but also fixes the issue this game has with the Nestopia emulator!

Thank you very much Lugia and Dizzy9, you guys have made my whole month! I've been checking back here at least 4 times a day since the last release keeping faith that someone would figure out the black screen issue preventing a lot of people from being able to play this. Seriously, thanks to both of you. Also especially happy about the updated names and descriptions. You're all awesome.

many emulators support mapper 163. for more on what a NES mapper is, give THIS, THIS, and THIS a read.

try loading a clean copy of the game into emus that support mapper 163 and you should not have any issues. the problem seems to be with the latest patch. nestopia, for example, loads the patched game to a black screen. yet View > Image info shows that the ROM is loaded, that soft patching is enabled (on-the-fly IPS patching, a requirement of Nestopia 1.40), and that mapper 163 is being used. After a save is present, NesDS also loads to a black screen. however, with NesDS if you simply toggle the "Pure Soft" graphic mode, the image will display again.

Thanks for all the info man, I appreciate a good read. I just kept reading that a lot of people were having trouble running the rom, and I didn't understand the use mapper 163. I have used a successfully patched rom and it does work on the pc emulator I tested it on, but I'm using NestopiaX for xbox, so I think it might be slightly different then the pc version. I didn't think to try toggling the graphic mode though, I'm gonna give that a test right now. Thanks again.

Hey Lugia, would it be possible for you to maybe change the 163 mapper that's causing this game to not work for at least 75% of the people attempting to play it, to something else that's actually compatible with at least most emulators. I'm just curious if you could do that, or if it would just screw up your whole game if you did. It's just weird that all your betas have worked up until the final release, so it seems the mapper 163 must've been added just to the final release since it's the only version that won't load. It's literally the only nes game I haven't been able to get to run. I don't know, I just really wish most of us could play this cause I've been more excited about this game than even my xbox one I'm getting. This game poops on the xbox one.

A credible source on another forum is helping me get this working on NestopiaX, and has confirmed that soft patching does work for this on the PC version of Nestopia, but it didn't work for NestopiaX on my Xbox. PC users are indeed in luck.

I did some research, xttx, and it appears the game doesn't work in Nestopia. It should work in FCEUX though.
All the betas have worked on NestopiaX (on Xbox) up until the finished version, but that might be differently updated than the PC version. I tested the english translation patch from the dropbox link, and it worked, but patching the rom using the Advent Children patch didn't. It's definitely disconcerting.  :'(

Congrats on the latest release Lugia. I've been keeping up with this project for a long time now, and it's always good to see something get completed and not just left behind to collect dust unfinished, especially something so epic. Has anyone been able to get this to run on Xbox though? I'm using NestopiaX, and tested the original rom first, then tested the english patch from your dropbox link a few posts above and they both worked, then patched the original rom with your actual patch, but it won't load at all. Just curious if anyone knows why or of an Xbox emulator that would load this correctly?

Looking good man. This project is coming along nicely, good luck on the rest. You're getting there quickly.
