So after being gone for a couple months, im sure most thought this hack was over. But I was simply busy with school and working and other things that I wasnt able to work on it much. I have since started once again and this update has a few new characters added, with me working on it daily now.

Bruce Banner --> Hulk
Chuck Norris
Ed --> Edd --> Eddy

Hullo. I'm a newbie at both romhacking and actually being arsed to make use of introduction threads. Figuring that you guys assign any worth to community I figured I might as well. My major reason for being here is that playing video games has gotten too boring for me for the most part, and so I'm approaching my ol' hobby from a different angle. I find the whole direction in which roleplaying video-games are travelling to be especially loathsome. I've got it in my mind to do a rather ambitious pokéhack which, if it lives up to my ideas, would address a great many of my complaints with the genre as a whole, but I'd rather not start ranting about that until I've a better handle on how to even go about beginning a project. For the time being, I think I'll leave it at that. It's a pleasure to be here, everyone.

Its nice to meet you. Thats actually how I started to want to hack, and now I am in the midst of a pokehack :)

Newcomer's Board / Making a site news page?
« on: November 14, 2012, 06:10:12 pm »
Ive recently uploaded a hack, and was looking to make a news page for it, but whenever I put the RHDN link url, it says that its not a valid url and must be a FULL url. I have tried multiple ways and ive checked to see if its the right url, which it is, so am I missing something?

Sorry, stupid mistake. Apparently it must include "http://" AND you have to delete the "/" at the end of the link. Or atleast thats how it worked for me.

Calm Mind sounds very like Zelda. Maybe that's a good option?

Yeah that will probably work. Still might change some move names tho

What, you never heard a Zelda Growl? Oh, of course not, you'd dead if you had.

No, I'm kidding. Yes, Zelda having Growl as a move would be weird. But there should other alternatives right? Is there a Psychic move for it?

Theres Confusion, Double Team, and Calm Mind for Pyschic moves (For low level Physic pokemon)

Ive been adding more characters and have started changing some stats. Still not sure if I should change the names and stats of the moves tho. It just seems weird for like Princess Zelda to be using Growl  :P

I just read your notice in Help Wanted Ads section and I'm not sure what do you plan on doing next.

Do you want replace real Pokemons with Fakemons or - just like you said earlier in this topic - put famous characters in this Pokemon Emerald Hack without Fakemons/Pokemons?

Or maybe you want create Fakemons based on famous characters?

You should clarify your statement in Help Wanted Ads section.

Sorry, I know its probably confusing now. Originally I was doing a fakemon game, but I ran out of ideas for character designs, so I decided to kinda do a side project until I could think of more. Eventually this small side project became the All-Stars game on this forumn. I am still going to do the fakemon game, but the All-Star game is my top priority for now.

Hope that clears things up. :)

One suggestion I would have is tracking down a really good sprite artist, and having them re-do all of the graphics you've got in there already to be more in line with the already existing Pokemon graphics. You seem to be focusing on filling up most of the space available, when you should just be trying to make sure that everything looks good.

Thats mostly right. I am first trying to fill in all the spots so that I may move on to the stats and know which characters will already be in. BUT After this I will be cleaning up all the graphics, either (painstakingly) myself, or with a more proffesional person. By the end of this hack, all of the images should be much better.

I am taking all feedback into consideration. As for the Alpha stage of the rom im doing, im simply trying to get all the characters in the game, and after that I will change stats (Pokecrys, stats, elements, etc), then finally ill go back and clean up the sprites and hopefully have them looking better. As for the gender thing, thats a good suggestion, I almost forgot about that tiny bit of info in the game.

In my opinion (though im willing to change it if many people wish) I think unknown evolutions were a big part of the original fun I had with Pokemon. Therefore (for now) I think having most pokemon/characters evolve will add to the fun. Of course I could change it if people disagree.

Heres a random screenshot:

EDIT: I fixed the too-long text, so now it fits perfectly

Those are good ideas and I am using YAPE which in my opinion is far better than any other editor (Stat/evolution wise)

As for the character list, I will be changing that many times before its finished. Once I finish all the pokemon I will release an ALPHA version and let people tell me which sprites suck and which characters should change and evolve..etc

Hopefully youll check out the alpha when it comes out and give more suggestions.

EDIT: I will also change all the pokecrys to hopefully match the characters voice or sounds

« on: November 01, 2012, 05:02:30 pm »
I am working on a kind of happy/fun hack of Emerald where all the Pokemon are changed to be famous characters in other games/movies. For example Batman,Woody, Sponge-bob,Snoopy,etc.

Later on I will also change the maps and story, tiles, and maybe change one or two gameplay features.

Ronald McDonald
Snoopy --> Scooby-Doo
Zelda --> Sheik
Sonic --> Super Sonic
Small Mario --> Big Mario --> Fire Flower Mario
Buzz Lightyear
Hello Kitty --> Tom --> Garfield
Invader Zim --> Alien
Bruce Banner --> Hulk
Chuck Norris
Ed --> Edd --> Eddy
Bubbles --> Blossom --> Buttercup
King Trode --> Yoda --> Shrek

Does anyone have any ideas for wha characters I should include? Also, Ill be updating the list of characters Ive added so check back often and see whats changed. After Ive change ALL pokemon, Ill upload an alpha rom and then Ill begin the changing of maps and story and stats, etc.  :thumbsup:

I was hoping to simply change the "1942" to a different number, either by using a font or redrawing it.

Newcomer's Board / Help with Nes "1942" Main Menu Editing
« on: October 28, 2012, 07:43:54 pm »
Ive recently started trying to hack and edit roms, with the help of hex editor tutorials and graphic editors for games, but I seem to be stuck and do not know how to change the simple main menu of 1942 to show or say something else. If anyone could help me, i would really appreciate it.

ps. Sorry if its a stupidly simple questions
