EDIT: chikadubi beat me too it  ;)

Hmm - finally went the correct path and the scroll lined up.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of this quirky kind of puzzle, since I spend an hour or so looking for a non existing SpaceJump power-up...

That said, gfx and music is top notch - great work!

If I´m supposed to be able to jump up here, then there is a bug in lining up the vertical scroll in the 1.0 version:

I´m using the emulator Nestopia by the way.

Found a door leading nowhere (in the derelict spaceship) - if that's not intentional I can post a screenshot (I can hack myself into the credits if this turns out to be a bug)

Also - am I supposed to find the space-jump somewhere?

Well - at least the hard part seems to be done already: the title screen and the CREDITS.

Speaking of ProtoMan, maybe this forum-thread is more appropriate:,21623.0.html

I really like this project and I really wish you would consider more updates/changes of the same nature to the old NES MG.

Anyway - nice work!

Programming / Re: Flip a tile by recalculating the bytes?
« on: December 13, 2016, 11:06:21 am »
OK - so now I have done a comparison between actual data.

Code: [Select]
80 01 C0 03 E0 07 F0 0F F0 0F F8 1F FC 3F FE 7F

Code: [Select]
01 80 03 C0 07 E0 0F F0 0F F0 1F F8 3F FC 7F FE
Assuming the register de contains the address to the UnFlipped byte sequence
and the register hl contains the address to the Flipped byte sequence, this snippet
should do the trick:

Code: [Select]
0E 08 ld c,08

13 inc de
1A ld a,(de)
22 ldi (hl),a

1B dec de
1A ld a,(de)
22 ldi (hl),a

13 inc de
13 inc de

0D dec c
79 ld a,c
B7 or a

20 F3 jr nz

Unless the pattern of this tile is to simple and the byte swapping just happen to work in this particular case. I have to test it IRL before I know for sure - but it looks promising.

Thanks guys.

I'll post a concrete example and some more info later today.

Programming / Flip a tile by recalculating the bytes?
« on: December 13, 2016, 02:28:52 am »
On GB a tile is defined by 16 bytes.
Is there a way of flipping that tile (horizontally) by calculation?

I have space for custom ASM and thought I could save space by eliminating redundant tiles - if they can be flipped by code.

Anyone care to explain the math involved?

When you ask for help you should:

- explain WHAT you have tried and HOW you have tried it.
- give details of what conclusion you have made on your own so far.
- list the tools you have used / tried to use.

Simply saying "tried - but failed" and then continue with a ridiculous list of music arrangement will get you nowhere.

Sounds like you want to use turboRip:

That will extract a PCE-ISO into the game file (ISO) and the music tracks (WAV).

Use the same application to assemble the files when you patched the ISO.

Good Luck.

Hi dACE, yes I would like to help by picking it up and trying to finish it. Either way, I'm not here to argue with anyone, all I simply did was ask a question.  ;)

Then you already asked Snarfblam for the editor he build for Jonesy?

If you were asking for a release so that YOU could pick it up and finish it - you would have had my sympathy.

But since you ask for somebody else to do it, once released, you end up only being annoying.

Here is some info:

Code: [Select]
$008F - Character selected (appearance only, until defeated, then stats as well)
00 - Mario
01 - Princess
02 - Toad
03 - Luigi

Hell yeah....

Lots of neat stuff added since last post - I'll get back with more details when I have had the time to properly test that nothing is broken.

So hacking other's hacks are OK - but nobody are allowed to hack yours?

Yes there is. Look around for buttons marked - or +. They are used to adjust the offset for start loading tiles.

That's utterly retarded, they just don't want people to not buy 3DSs this Christmas for Pokemon.

Perhaps - but that info is supposedly from somebody close to Nintendo.

Anyway - Since I am going to play the new Zelda and was not retarded enough to buy a WiiU, I'll enjoy my Switch at home in front of my big-ass TV.

It's not the next Wii U, it's the next 3DS. The docking station is just to get the display sent to the TV, but all the magic happens inside the handheld device. Thus what you play on the go is what you'd get at home...

That's not what Nintendo claims:
