Programming / Re: Question about making Zelda 2 romhacks
« on: August 20, 2021, 07:42:03 pm »
Hi Jorpho,

I honestly didn't know it was more correct to put it there.

I did look into documents and utilities at

The thing is I found an editor that seems better and more put to date but not mentioned on the downloads:

And documentation regarding the rombanks also missing in

This give me the impression that either I'm looking at it wrong or the Zelda II community is gathering somewhere else.

Thanks for the link to data crystal, the information there only mentions older documents, editors and hacks, seems to not to have been updated on a while.

Under any case, thanks for answering!

Programming / Question about making Zelda 2 romhacks

Anyone can point out:

1. What are the main good/recommended tools used to make romhacks without coding. To modify overworld, side views, etc...

2. Documentation about the Zelda II rom and learn the quirks and ways to hack in your own asm scripts. I'm able to understand technical docs, code, asm, etc... without much issue.

3. Any website more dedicated to Zelda II romhacking that

Thanks in advance

This is looking amazing. The new graphics and level design really make it stand out. Can't wait!

By the way what editor do you use?

This one: ?

It is a great game and it is sad it only works on emulators due to some bug at the startup.

krzysiobal you seem to have some idea of why it happens, but do you have any idea of how to fix it? Maybe you can add a patch as an attachment to test?

I was going to play this hack on the Analogue NT Mini 2.0 Noir FPGA console and realised it doesn't start. The rom works fine on Nestopia.

It loops between the first two splash screens twice and after shows garbage and gets block.

Maybe the ROM is Missing the NES 2.0 Headers?

My guess is that if it doesn't work on the Analogue it probably also doesn't work on flashcards on the original console but I don't own one to test.

Would be great if would be possible to play this romhack on real hardware or FPGA.

Let me know if any additional information can help.

I was just trying the FFV patch:

When I saw I get 1 ABP point.

Is there any plans to come back to work on this patch? I will be playing the full game soon so I could test it.
