Personal Projects / Re: [NES] Super Mario Bros. 1/3

Any chance of a patch or is this project just kinda dead?

Doesn't this hack accomplish what you want: ?

Tested it and that one did it, thanks for the link :)
Good to have one of these, I don't like reserving save states since those tend to get wiped when the emulator updates.

Newcomer's Board / Any similar Second Quest hacks for Super Mario Bros 1?
« on: November 14, 2020, 01:26:32 am »

There's a neat hack for Super Mario Land 1 that makes it default to it's "second quest/hard mode" without having to already beat the game first, this comes in real handy and is much more convenient than having a separate save state dedicated to it. I'm curious if anyone has made something similar for the NES Super Mario 1, since that game has it's own "hard mode" where the goombas are replaced by Buzzy Beetles.

It didn't occur to me that there might be emulation of Baby Pac-Man in its entirety.

I found this video, but it doesn't look like it works very well at all.  Was your experience better?

It's been awhile but it's a more recent version than the video but I recall it being a good deal better, setting it up wasn't the easiest and I recall some parts giving me trouble, I'm thinking controls and the pinmame display, when they eventually got settled it was pretty awesome though.

I think one that's missing from the list is a Fist of the North Star game, think the subtitle is Lost Paradise, pretty much a Yakuza game but in the FotNS setting.

When I used Windows I liked Visual Pinball a fair bit, was a good way to emulate Baby Pac Man especially. Not many good options for it's ilk on Linux and haven't had the best luck running these in WINE unfortunately.

Any decent tools for hacking Super Turrican? (The SNES one), I got an idea for one, not expecting much help so I'm thinking of looking into it myself but I need a good starting point. I'm thinking of making a hack that changes that into the Directors Cut version, since the odds of the NT being hacked are pretty slim.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Arcade Hacks
« on: January 18, 2020, 07:35:26 pm »
Figure I'd check here for help, but I'm looking for some help with making some Arcade hacks, Usually when you find one (if you even find one) then it either won't work or it'll do a ton of unneeded crap (KOF 97: Plays as the bosses....also have unlimited super, colored stages and a nude Mai), emulators like FB and MAME won't even run them (Finalburn used to but not anymore), so I'm thinking of looking in and trying something myself, this is mostly for games like Puzzle Fighter and various fighting games, playing as the hidden characters, kinda like the old Yumeji patches if anyone knows those.

What's a good place to start? I'm looking for some tools to try and do this.

This is when you use .

Ah I see, I think I tried the search before but I didn't find it from that, though I'm probably just stupid cause I typed the entire thing out, like the zip name, so thats probably why.

Still thank you so much :)

I picked up a patch here a little while back and want to patch it, but I don't remember what the game was, it has no read me and the patch is in "", with a date of 6.21.2010, I cannot figure out what game it was from, since it was one of the random featured hacks on the right, and it has no readme to go off of.
