Personal Projects / Re: Battle City Remastered

It can't be patched to a ROM. It's only intended for use on the MESEN emulator.

Imkrut: You should specify in the topics of all your posts that these hacks are only for MESEN. Most people play on real hardware or more common emulators.

Fair enough but I don't understand why this wasn't made into rom patch.

Thanks for this but it's a bunch of images and a text file. How do I patch this to a rom?

Are you people kidding me? Fun glitches? Ya, so fun to cruise through the whole game, kill everything in one hit. If anything more glitches could be fixed.

I love this hack and welcome any bug fixes.

It's looking good. Yes, it'd be nice to have more levels that are designed with having goomba's shoe and hammer bros. suit. Original smb3 had like 1 level for each, that was kind of a letdown. Also, as an idea, it would be amazing to be able to have goomba's shoe as an item in the inventory.

What am I saying... I just realized if you were to hold select and press left or right, you can't move anyways, so select might as well pause the game. While paused you can select a B button weapon with left right. That works much better.

yes, battle city. cool. There is a 4 player hack of this out there. I can't see why this wouldn't be compatible, right?

Looks pretty good. Is there a way you could provide a separate patch for select to change b button item? Actually, what would be awesome is hold select and press left or right to go through the items forward/backward as if when in the items screen.

I'd like to know how to get 16 frames of animation in the background sprites as a separate patch. Thanks.

Qhack and Hardtype do work together fine. Don't know about critical hit %. Hardtype is pretty hard as it is if you don't grind a lot. The only thing is that after applying the patches you must use STARWIN's ECC recalculator tool on the disc image so it'll play properly.

In addition to the save feature, the ability to go back to a level that you've already cleared would be nice since there are a lot of secrets throughout. It would be nice if you added these to the original Rainbow realms too. Thanks.

Sorry for being a stickler about this, it's just if I'm going to spend a lot of time on this I want to try to make it as good of as experience as I can.

From the CT Platinum readme:
- Doubled Offense of normal enemies until the Future and quadrupled Offense of normal enemies thereafter (except those with an Offense of 1).
- Made all normal enemies in Magic Cave and Magus Castle have 16 Water and Shadow Defense (except where stat was already higher than 16).
- Doubled HP of bosses and normal enemies in prison scene.
- Doubled both Offense and HP of Uber-Mutants, M-Machine, Queen Zeal semi-final and final, Yakkra XIII, Super Slash, Flea Plus, Great Ozzie, Son of Sun, Flame, and Lavos final boss.
- Made Ruminator Charm nothing.

I'm just wondering generally how plus and NES hard patch compare with Platinum. Thanks a lot.

Hey, I've been playing Rainbow Realms 1. Man, it's hard. A lot of levels you have to know them before hand so you have to do them over and over until you get it. For a game like this, it would be great to have the save feature for those using hardware. Would it be possible to make this compatible with SMB3_Battery Hack? Thanks.

I have a question re: the difficulty. Do you know how the difficulty compares to say, Chrono Trigger Master Quest? Or Platinum? I guess it wouldn't be possible to patch those over top of plus, but would it be possible to add a hard mode patch, similar to what the other hacks do, on your to do list?

In any case, thanks for this, looking forward to playing it someday.

I second werewolf. Just from the pictures this looks good.

Just tried out the latest patches. Redux with optional patches:

-5 bomb upgrade
-rearranged bosses
-recolored dungeons

On initial impressions I noticed that
-seems like the rupee counter is only 2 digits. I thought 999 was the max)
-Arrows do appear as enemy drops right from the start. I thought you mentioned that you're only supposed to be able to buy arrows.
-Bombable walls hint on overworld is still a bit too obvious but it's ok. Would've been nice if it was more subtle, like a couple of odd pixels or something.
-I guess going through breakable wall tiles is a know thing...

agree with Vanya 100%

Cool. Look promising. I'm hoping this could eventually be something like this?:

I've always wanted to see a SNES version of UMKT. Anyways, thanks.

Yes, there's a way. I made a request in the Rom hacking discussions thread some time ago and thanks goes out again to DarkSamus993 who replied with all the answers!

Ideally it should be tested on hardware. Are there any quirks of ZSNES that this hack replies on that are not hardware accurate?
